Dollar Sense

To prove he's not a money dummy after getting cut off by his parents, Remy decides to start his own investment, but it goes downhill in an instant.

"Dollar Sense" contains examples of:

  • Book Ends: The episode starts in the Remingtons' office where Rashida and Russell get a huge drop in their bank statement due to Remy's reckless money spending, and ends in the office where Remy apologizes, Rashida and Russell are proud of him for his minimal pay, and he gets his wallet back.
  • Bland-Name Product: Burger Clown and its BcRib, standing in for McDonald's McRib.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Penguins like stale BcRibs but do not like them with pickles.
  • Given Name Reveal: After spending the past three and a half seasons unnamed, the Remingtons' mansion is named Remington Manor.
  • A Fool and His New Money Are Soon Parted: After making ten dollars selling his BcRib, Remy gets the idea of buying all the BcRibs in Big City and selling them back at ridiculous prices. The plan fails when Burger Clown, responding to the inflated demand caused by Remy's actions, make the BcRib a regular menu item, making the now stale BcRibs Remy bought worthless. And what's more, he has to repay the bank loan he made to fund his scheme, which he does by selling the BcRibs to the zoo to feed their penguins. When all is done, Remy is left with only 75 cents, which, after splitting it with Cricket and Tilly, leaves him with one quarter.
  • Oh, Crap!: Remy and the others when they see the BcRib added to the permanent menu meaning theirs are no longer special, followed by Remy getting another when they've gone stale. He gets an even bigger one when the teller comes to remind him his loan is due at the end of the day and unless he pays it, he will foreclose Remington Manor.
  • Race Against the Clock: The middle of the episode becomes this for Remy as he has until the end of the day to pay back his loan, otherwise everything in his possession, including Remington Manor, will be repossessed.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: Remy is a "money dummy", according to his dad, for spending ridiculous amounts of money on frivolous things for himself and his friends. So Russell takes Remy's wallet away and leaves him with one dollar to see if he can spend it wisely by the end of the day. He ends up almost losing the Remmington fortune on a complicated scheme, and ends up with only a quarter.
  • Visual Pun: Just after Remy utters it's "time to face the music", it cuts to Rashida and Russell playing musical instruments in their office.

True Cawing

Feeling unappreciated by his family, Bill begins hanging with a murder of crows. Meanwhile, Cricket tries to discover his own hobby.

"True Cawing" contains examples of:

  • 13 Is Unlucky: The Greens ditch Bill's Statue Saturday after he shows them the 13th statue.
  • Failure Montage: One where Tilly and Gramma try out different hobbies to help Cricket find his own, only for him to mess up every one of them.
  • Feathered Fiend: The crows seem friendly to Bill at first, but once Bill tries to leave them, they become possessive and won't let him go.
  • Head Desk: Cricket thuds his head against a wastebasket during Statue Saturday in the beginning, complete with Punctuated Pounding.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Bill takes the family to "Statue Saturday", where he visits all the statues in Big City. None of the others find this fun at all, and eventually leave Bill all alone.
  • Ironic Echo: "I don't wanna do this anymore and you can't make me!" First said by Cricket to Bill during Statue Saturday, Bill later says the same exact thing to the crows when he has had enough with them. This causes him to realize how hard he has been on his family.
  • It Was with You All Along: Throughout the episode, Cricket tries to find his hobby but keeps causing chaos and destruction at every one. It turns out causing chaos is his hobby, and he uses his talent to get rid of the crows.
