Good luck trying to break out of your comfort zone...and prepare for worst-case scenarios.
Big Resolution

It's New Year's Eve, and Gloria is nervous when she makes a resolution to confess her feelings to her longtime crush Kevin, so Cricket and Tilly do their best to encourage her. Meanwhile, Bill chickens out on Nancy and Gramma attempting to jump into icy water at midnight.

"Big Resolution" provides examples of:

  • As You Know: Cricket reminds Gloria of how he caused her to lose her job and apartment and is now living with the Greens.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Gloria finally gets the nerve to ask Kevin out... and he turns her down, but she takes it better than she thought she would and ends the episode with newfound confidence.
  • Call-Back: While talking about Gloria's issue with Kevin, Cricket brings up the time he was successful in getting in a relationship with Gabriella.
  • Description Cut: Nancy tells to Bill, "I know you're a creature of comfort..." Then it cuts to Bill in a recliner wrapped head to toe in a blanket holding a cup of cocoa.
  • Did Not Get The Guy: Gloria finally confesses her feelings to Kevin, but he turns her down. However, she's not upset about it.
  • Fictional Counterpart: Instead of watching the ball drop at Times Square, the citizens of Big City watch the cube drop at Times Circle.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: While Gloria is leaving Kevin after getting rejected, the Times Circle Wholesome Foods can be seen behind her.
  • Irony: While Cricket was successful at earning a significant other, Gloria was not. However, she's not sad about it.
  • It's All My Fault: During As You Know as above, Cricket owns up it was indeed his fault Chip became the CEO, resulting in Big Coffee shutting down.
  • New Year Has Come: The episode takes place at New Year's Eve.
  • New Year's Resolution: The episode revolves around Gloria and Bill's resolutions. Gloria's is to ask out her secret crush Kevin, which she does with some (at first unwanted) help from Cricket and Tilly. Bill's is to "stay the course", but Nancy thinks he should step out of his comfort zone and dares him to plunge into the icy cold river at midnight.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Cricket decides on climbing to the top of the cube and looking for Kevin from there; once the three are there however, their weight causes the cube to drop early, and Gloria is blamed for it and deemed a fool.
  • One Scene, Two Monologues: Gloria and Bill are talking about their own failed resolutions, and end up coming to the same conclusion. This makes them realize that they should go back and get their own resolutions over with.
  • Sequel Hook: When turning Gloria down, Kevin says he's not up for anything "at the moment", hinting this is not the last we see of him.
  • Shipper on Deck: Cricket and Tilly to Gloria and Kevin.
  • You Fool!: Kevin says this in Gloria's "worst case scenario" daydream.

Note to self: NEVER challenge Vasquez to a snowball fight.
Winter Greens

During a surprise snowfall, Cricket and Remy challenge Vasquez to a snowball fight, but it causes him to cast away his humanity and severely attack them. Meanwhile, Tilly and Nancy try to give Tilly's snowperson the day it deserves to have.

"Winter Greens" provides examples of:

  • Amusingly Short List: Tilly's to-do list for Margaret the snowman reads: 1) Get made out of snow; 2)melt.
  • Animation Bump: Frost coats the floors and buildings, something new to the show's animation evolution.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Remy just wanted Vasquez to have a snowball fight with him, and to "give it your best." Now he and Cricket are running for their lives.
  • Book Ends: The episode starts and ends in the Remingtons' front yard.
  • Fireball Eyeballs: Remy gets these when he dares Vasquez to take him down, which in turn causes him to come to his senses.
  • It's the Best Whatever, Ever!:
    • Cricket calls himself and Remy "the best snowball fighting duo ever" when teaming up.
    • When Vasquez saves Remy from slipping on an icy patch, Remy says, "You're the best bodyguard, ever!"
    • When deciding to extend Tilly's snowperson bucket list, Nancy is determined to give Margaret "the best last first day, ever".
    • At the end of the Tilly-Nancy subplot when putting Margaret's remains in the fridge, Tilly says, "Best snow day, ever!"
  • Mood Whiplash: A touching moment between Tilly and Nancy at Ruff Customers followed by them placing Margaret's remains in the freezer so she can last forever immediately has the mood shattered by Vasquez busting down the Remingtons' gate in the next scene.
  • The Power of Love: Remy deciding to willingly get stricken down by Vasquez is what causes him to come to his senses and apologize; as Cricket points out, love conquers all.
  • Restraining Bolt: Because Vasquez has sworn to protect Remy from all harm, he won't dare to hit him with even the gentlest of snowballs. Cricket convinces Remy to fire him as his bodyguard so he won't have to go easy on him, then rehire him after the snowball fight is over. Unfortunately, that means Vasquez will go all out until the two boys are destroyed; even when Remy tells him he's rehired, he's too far gone by that point. It's only when Remy dares him to strike him down that Vasquez finally snaps out of it.
  • Snowball Fight: The main plot has Cricket and Remy having one, then trying to convince Vasquez to join them. Unfortunately, Vasquez turns it into a snowball war.
  • Tongue on the Flagpole: While reporting on the snowfall in Big City, a reporter interviews little Benny, who has his tongue frozen on the Remingtons' front gate.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Margaret the snowperson was set to melt that night (when all the snow is said to melt), so Nancy is determined to give her the best first and last day ever as possible.
