It's a chore-free paradise! For now, anyways...
Cricket's Place

Cricket narrates about a time when he and Remy rent out their own apartment when they get tired of what their parents tell them to do, but their living quickly goes downhill.

"Cricket's Place" contains examples of:

  • Be Careful What You Say: "I ain't ever doin' chores! Ever!" Cricket soon learns this the hard way.
  • Bottle Episode: The entire episode is set on Elkins Street, with the exception of the first and last scenes.
  • Framing Device: The events of the episode are narrated in flashback by Cricket to a woman at the park.
  • Gilligan Cut: When Cricket dares Bill to make him paint the fence.
    Bill: Say that again.
    Cricket: Maaake meee —
[Smash Cut to Cricket painting the fence]
    Cricket: Ugh! He made me.
  • Gone Horribly Right: When Cricket and Remy get their own apartment, they decide not to do any chores. Almost some time later, the apartment becomes a big mess as a result, causing them to realize their mistake and decide to go home.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!:
Cricket: Get your own dang milk, Remy! You're your own man now!
  • Minor Living Alone: Cricket uses Remy's money to rent out an apartment on the building next door to the Greens.
  • Punctuated! For! Emphasis!: What Cricket wants to do is NO. CHORES. EVER. AT ALL. PERIOD. Guess what happens...
  • Shout-Out: The scene at the end where it's revealed Cricket was telling the story to an old woman while on a bench at the park mimics the Framing Device of Forrest Gump.
  • Tempting Fate: Cricket claims he and Remy won't do any chores in their new apartment. Cue the next day where everything all goes downhill.
  • Trash of the Titans: After one night of partying, Cricket's new apartment becomes an unlivable mess.
  • Wanting Is Better Than Having: Cricket learns this soon enough when he refuses to do chores when living alone, which turns the apartment into a total disaster.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: The episode is narrated by Cricket in flashback.

"I'll never let you go, not even Ivanhoe."
Volunteer Tilly

Tilly volunteers at the animal shelter and refuses to let the animals get adopted, while Cricket and Gramma play pranks on Bill.

"Volunteer Tilly" contains examples of:

  • Crying Wolf: After being pranked by Cricket and Gramma, Bill has had enough and goes to take a bath. He ignores their calls to come outside, thinking it's a prank. Indeed, Cricket and Gramma were going to prank Bill by pouring oil in front of the bathroom door, but then a vicious chihuahua escaped from the shelter attacks them, and the oil keeps them from running away. By the time Bill comes out, Cricket and Gramma are badly mauled.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After everything they did to Bill, Cricket and Gramma were rightly rewarded for their pranking when slipping on the oil meant for a fourth prank and attacked by a chihuahua outside the bathroom, and he joybuzzes them when they request to be helped up.
  • Little "No": Tilly utters one in her head when she realizes she won't be able to see the pets again.
  • Prank Call: Cricket and Gramma's first prank on Bill is calling him, pretending to be someone from the Department of Lost and Found, making him think he's missing his butt.
  • Rule of Three: Bill is pranked a total of three times by Cricket and Gramma; first being prank called, second getting splashed in the face, and third when he faceplants into a cake. When the duo attempt a fourth prank but slip on the oil meant for it and a scary chihuahua rounds on them, Bill has had enough and thinks they are pranking again when they were truly in danger that time.
  • Shout-Out: When the chihuahua closes in on Cricket and Gramma, Cricket cries out, "Daddy, help me!"
  • Show Within a Show: The Prank Tank.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The two plots are Tilly refusing to let the animals be adopted and Cricket and Gramma pranking Bill.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: Cricket and Gramma's side to the story is a complete take on The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
