Mr. Elf has built a new boat called “Bunty II”, after Big Bad Barry had eaten his previous boat. Mr. Elf refuses to put “Bunty II” in the water, so it won’t get eaten by Barry. So King Thistle commands Mr. Elf to sail everyone to a tropical island.
This episode contains examples of:
- Adults Are Useless: Every adult (except from Mr. Elf) just causes torture for Mr. Elf. (probably the only likeable character in this episode) Firstly, they force him to take them to a tropical place on his boat, without his consent. Secondly, when an octopus destroys Bunty II, everyone is left floating in the middle of the ocean. Nanny Plum refuses to magic them a boat, because of Mr. Elf declaring no magic during the vacation. Luckily, Mr. Elf builds a raft called “Bunty III”, which Barry eats a minute later. Mr. Elf shouts at Barry for eating his raft and gets upset. Thirdly, you’d expect everyone else to cheer Mr. Elf up but they scold him for being upsetting Barry. Also, King Thistle forces him to build another boat for just Barry to eat.
- Big Bad: Big Bad Barry, hence the name. And the octopus that destroys Bunty II.
- Butt-Monkey: Mr. Elf. When an octopus tears apart and destroys Bunty II. Mr. Elf makes a raft called “Bunty III” by using the remaining pieces of Bunty II, but then Big Bad Barry returns and eats Bunty III. After everyone swims back to shore, Mr. Elf, had enough with Barry, says “Curse you!” and tells him that he is never eating another boat of his because he is never building another boat again. You can tell he getting more and more upset while he’s saying it. You gotta feel sorry for Mr. Elf. Barry gets upset by this and you would expect everyone else to cheer Mr. Elf up, but they scold him for “being unkind” to Barry. And to add insult to injury, King Thisle (despite the fact he said he’d take full responsibility for this whole situation earlier) commands Mr. Elf to build another boat just for Barry to eat.
- Hypocrite: King Thistle said he’d would take full responsibility for Bunty II being destroyed, but at the end when Mr. Elf hurts Barry’s feelings, he commands him to build another boat just for Barry.
- Only Sane Man: Mr. Elf. You gotta feel sorry for him in this episode...
