They should probably see a dentist.

Is it just me or is there a lot of excitement today?

Grandpa Max has a surprise for the children: They are going to Sparksville, an incredibly exciting town full of mysteries and weird things. According to Ben and Gwen, it's just a boring town filled by cheap attractions, so they end up freeing a crazy electrical alien. Accidentally of course.

Tropes:

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: The mayor of Sparksville theorizes that the Megawhatt could be a ball of lightning come alive but dismisses Gwen's idea of it being an alien as "kooky talk".
  • Brick Joke: The prologue opens up with Ben having a face-making contest with a kid in the next car over, ultimately winning by turning into Stinkfly, much to the child's fright. Later, when Stinkfly extinguishes a fire on the same highway, that same boy from before shrieks "It's the monster who ate that kid!"
  • Deadly Disc: Upgrade throws a manhole cover at the original Megawhatt, splitting it in two. Both sides regenerate, meaning there are now two dangerous aliens on the loose.
  • Don't Touch It, You Idiot!: The giant ball of rubber bands has dozens of signs telling everyone to avoid touching it, photographing it, and using batteries or electrical equipment near it. Gwen and Ben don't think it's dangerous so they barely pay attention to the signs. They should have. At the end of the episode, there's now a sign that reads "In case of emergency, do NOT break glass."
  • Dull Surprise: The townsfolk's reaction to everything.
  • Eye Beams: Ben discovers that Upgrade can do this.
  • First-Name Ultimatum: Max calls the children "Benjamin" and "Gwendolyn" after correctly assuming that the destruction of a few buildings was caused by them. Gwen is appropriately scared.
  • For the Evulz: This sums up the Megawhatts' motivation, they just want to create as much destruction as possible.
  • Glass-Shattering Sound: The Megawhatts' laugh is strong enough to break the glass container of the world's largest toothpicks.
  • The Hyena: Megawhatts are known to laugh very maniacally.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Heatblast has balance problems while using his pyrokinesis to propel himself in the air.
  • Hyper-Destructive Bouncing Ball: The giant ball of rubber bands starts bouncing everywhere and destroying a few buildings after Four Arms accidentally drops it and he is barely capable of stopping it.
  • It Amused Me: The only reason the Megawhatts do anything. Unfortunately, their idea of fun involves wrecking things.
  • Logical Weakness: The Megawhatts can't use their powers if they are trapped by a non-conductive material, like rubber or glass.
    • Same also applies to Upgrade, because being living metal means you’re basically target practice for the aliens that can shoot lightning.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Apart from controlling and altering machines, Ben discovers that Upgrade can also shoot a laser out of his eye. Unfortunately, it doesn't help against the Megawhatts.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Twice.
    • Upgrade accidentaly creates a clone of the first Megawhatt after cutting it in half by throwing a manhole cover at it.
    • Gwen creates dozens of clones after using a giant thermometer as a lightning rod. Given that the ground is a giant conductor, the Megawhatts simply find the nearest way to the surface: The underground phone lines, and charge up, creating more duplicates.
  • Not Quite Flight: Heatblast learns how to do this by creating a jet-like propulsor under his feet.
  • Not So Above It All: Max pulls a water bucket prank on Ben at the end of the episode. Doubles as an Ironic Echo.
  • Pass the Popcorn: The mayor's reaction to the destruction caused by the Megawhatts.
  • Psycho Electro: The Megawhatts have electrical powers and cause mayhem wherever they go.
  • See the Invisible: Kraab is able to see Ghostfreak with his sensors.
  • Self-Duplication: The Megawhatts are capable of doing this. It requires external forces, though.
  • Smoke Out: Heatblast does this to avoid an incoming swarm of Megawhatts.
  • The Stoic: The mayor of Sparksville is emotionless and his reaction to the Megawhatts' outbreak is mild annoyance.
  • Super-Speed: The Megawhatts can use this.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Gwen reacts this way when Max says that he was looking for Ben and her. Ben stops her before she spills the beans.
Gwen: What? What did you see? We don't know anything about it.
  • Touch the Intangible: Kraab is able to spray a fluid to solidify Ghostfreak's protoplasm.
  • Tourism-Derailing Event: Despite having several fair attractions, what's keeping Sparksville afloat is a big attraction referred to as "it", namely a giant rubber ball. Due to Ben's recklessness when trying to lift it as Four Arms, it's tossed away and causes destruction all over the town, and at one point it's shown that the ball has electrical beings (called Nosedeenians) capable of absorbing electricity to gain extra power; in fact, absorbing some from the Omnitrix allows them to escape and multiply, causing even more trouble and endangering the town. By the end of the episode, the Nosedeenians are trapped in a giant glass bowl, which then becomes the new main attraction of the town ("the largest bulb in the world"), giving it newfound popularity.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Ben inadvertently frees the first Megawhatt by using the Omnitrix near "It", a giant rubber band ball that keeps the Megawhatt trapped, with it absorbing energy from the Omnitrix to escape.
  • Wedgie: Grandpa Max ends up in the receiving end of one thanks to a Megawhatt.
