Tropes

  • Big Damn Heroes: Rattrap shows up just in time to save Cheetor from being Tarantulas's next meal.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: At the end of the episode, Primal apologizes to Cheetor for chewing him out, only for Cheetor to counter that Primal had every right.
  • Fearless Fool: Why Cheetor keeps getting into trouble.
Cheetor: Well, at least I'm not afraid to do it.
Rattrap: Y'know, that is why you mess up, kiddo. You don't have the sense to be afraid.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: This is the only episode to depict Tarantulas's cannibalistic traits. note  In future episodes, he attempts to devour actual animals.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: This is the first episode to portray Rattrap as rough mannered hero, though it's relatively downplayed. He only keeps details of Cheetor's absence after saving him because Rattrap would get chewed out if he didn't.
  • Morality Pet: Rhinox is able to get Rattrap to watch out for Cheetor.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Cheetor's actions result in the loss of Rhinox's communicator and allow the Predacons to recover and reinstall a 'mega-cannon' blown off their ship. The other Maximals let him know it.
  • Shapeshifter Mode Lock: For unspecified reasons, the web makes it impossible for Cheetor to transform to robot mode while he's trapped on it.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The mega-cannon that drives the episode is never seen or mentioned again in the rest of the series. The last time we see it, Scorponok and Terrorsaur were installing it on a platform attached to one of the rock spires surrounding the Darksyde as Cheetor watched.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Optimus really lets Cheetor have it.
"Sorry isn't enough. We're in a war for survival, and you treat it like a game. If you had obeyed orders, all this could've been avoided."
