• Bait-and-Switch: The first scene after the Info Dump on Star Sapphire shows Batman seemingly testing a new Batmobile built by Ferris Aircraft. But then it’s revealed that Hal Jordan is the driver, the result of a deal he made to test Batman’s new vehicles while the Caped Crusader handles crime in Coast City.
• Fighting from the Inside: How Carol eventually defeats the Star Sapphire persona.
• Foreshadowing: Hal Jordan being able to narrate Star Sapphire’s origin is a sure sign that he knows who she is, as is his not openly agreeing with Batman’s theory that Taylor was a disguise for the villainess to capture Carol.
• The Unreveal: Invoked. After spraying Taylor with amnesia spray, Batman tells her that she was about to reveal what Hal Jordan’s one fear is, causing her to walk off fuming at having forgot what that was. It then gets subverted, as Hal reveals that his one fear is losing Carol.
• What Does She See in Him?: Batman notes he doesn't know why Wonder Woman likes Steve.
