Recap / Batman The Brave And The Bold S 1 E 22 The Last Bat On Earth

Go To

Teaser: Batman and Mr. Miracle escape a death trap for charity.

Main Plot: Grodd has escaped to the future of Kamandi, where intelligent animals rule. Now leading an army with technology against the other uplifted, Batman teams up with the Last Boy on Earth to stop the ape.

  • Berserk Button: Grodd didn't take kindly to the tigers calling him a monkey.
  • Heel–Face Turn:
    • The last episode to feature Kamandi and his world had the rat men as bestial antagonists. Now, they're among the Men of Sherwood.
    • The bat men attack Batman, Kamandi, and the professor for going into their territory and for Batman dressing like them. However, when Batman beats them in a fight and later flies a plane, they decide that he is like them and deserves their friendship.
    • The xenophobic, slavery-practicing tiger men end their intolerance toward humanity after Batman and Kamandi save them from being conquered.
  • Henpecked Husband: If the teaser is to be believed, Mr. Miracle seems to be this to his wife, Barda.
  • Meaningful Echo: After Grodd's army of gorillas is routed, he vainly screams for them not to run while calling them cowards, exactly like the gorilla leader whom he mocked as a failure and usurped earlier in the episode.
  • Men of Sherwood: The lion, serpent, bear, rat, and bat mutant armies all ally against Grodd and his gorilla men. They are briefly incapacitated by a sonic weapon but help defeat the gorilla Mooks once it's disabled.
  • Never Trust a Title: There are many other (mutated) bats in the Bad Future even before Batman arrives.
  • Off Screen Moment Of Awesome: Prince Tuftan rallying lots of rival uplifted animal species to ally against Grodd is quite impressive and takes place entirely off-screen.
  • Slave Liberation: Done unsuccessfully and Played for Laughs with the efforts of Dr. Canus, an uplifted, futuristic dog mutant, who tries to free devolved and enslaved humans from the animal men armies. The slaves are too unintelligent to run a single foot after being freed from their shackles.
