Recap / Bar Rescue S 3 E 26 Empty Bottles Full Cans

Go To

Jon Taffer goes to MT Bottle in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where bartenders flash their boobs at customers who bring in their own booze, and a lazy owner's ingenuity might not be enough to save this Tennessee watering hole.

Episode Tropes:

  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Tracy Bigford, one of the bar's owners, shows ingenuity in handling some of the bar's problems (ex. engineering a tube system to separate bottles and cans for recycling), but he also ignores other issues like not mopping the floor during the stress test. The later of which causes Russell Davis to slip and tweak his leg, which enrages him since a worse injury could have ruined his career. Cue Tracy taking his time to clean up the floor and fail at it, forcing his wife Gina to clean up the mess. At least his wife has the excuse of working long hours at a factory five hours away to explain why she had troubles.
  • No Sympathy: When Gina breaks down during the relaunch because the bar's interior resurfaces some childhood trauma, Jon Taffer berates her for putting her emotions ahead of the business, even though it's clearly a sore subject for her. While it's not Jon Taffer's fault since she never disclosed the trauma she went through, he doesn't even try to help her with how she's feeling.
  • Oh, Crap!: Bartender Brandi will show the customers her breasts for $5...except Taffer points out that it's against Tennessee law to show your nipples. Once Taffer explains that the bar's impending liquor license will be pulled and Brandi could be arrested for indecent exposure, Brandi immediately stops flashing the customers.
  • Trauma Button: While it's not disclosed, apparently the bar's decor rekindled memories of Gina's Dark and Troubled Past. She is genuinely appreciative of the help; it's just the memories that are causing her to break down.
