Recap / Bar Rescue S 1 E 10 Hogtied Hams

Go To

Jon heads to Framingham, where he finds a bar where everything is disrespectful from the decor to the owners to the name.

This work contains an example of:

  • Blatant Lies: LB claims he was busy, which is why he couldn't be there for three important events. Jon calls his bluff and fires him on the spot.
  • D.I.Y. Disaster: The decorations can only be described as a glorified man cave with pictures of LB with a naked lady and a license saying they won't call 911.
  • Foil: LB and Richie serve as this to each other. They're both not allowed to be owners due to DUIs and are responsible for ruining the business. On Richie's end, his decor was simply him doing as he was told, but he is putting in the work to try to make it successful and is fully receptive to Jon's changes. LB, on the other hand, serves no function to the business and gets himself fired for being a hindrance and for abandoning important events.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: Richie is nice, as he is fully on board with Taffer's changes, and his mistakes were a result of him doing what Tim told him to do. Tim is in-between, as he's making an honest effort to make the business work and cares for the staff but defies Taffer until about halfway through. LB is mean for his abrasive attitude and constantly ditching important events.
  • Once More, with Clarity: During the meeting with the mayor, he explains the backlash wasn't so much for the name itself as it was for announcing the name after LB and Richie were denied ownership, giving the perception the name was a cheap potshot at them.
  • Only Sane Man: Dino proves to be the biggest asset in the building. Brian Duffy acknowledges him as a talented chef whose attitude towards the waitresses is only because they're bad at their jobs. He is fully aware of the bar's problems and has no problem telling it to Tim. Despite the problems, he stays on the whole time because he believes in the bar's potential.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Jon Taffer at least arranges a ride home for LB after firing him since his license is revoked due to his DUI.
    • LB offers genuine advice to Tim to stop Jon Taffer from leaving.
  • Redemption Failure: LB claimed he had turned around since his DUI and wanted to fix his life. His attitude throughout suggests he thinks he can get it without earning it.
