Recap / Avengers Assemble S 3 E 6 Thunderbolts Revealed

Go To

As the Thunderbolts continue to overshadow the Avengers, Hawkeye becomes suspicious.

When the team discovers their true identities, the revealed Thunderbolts decide if they should remain the heroes they claim to be.

Tropes:

  • Accent Relapse:
    • When Citizen V is rumbled, he goes right back to Zemo's normal speaking voice.
    • Songbird's accent is downplayed, but flares right back up when she's Screaming Mimi.
  • Chekhov's Gun:
    • That piece of Starktech Zemo stole in "Under Siege" is what he uses to make the Masters of Evil look like the Thunderbolts.
    • Cap and Songbird's combination attack used to defeat Klaue, which they use at the episode's climax.
  • Engineered Heroics: Citizen V arranged a meeting with Klaue so he could later escape Avengers Tower and go on a rampage.
  • Evil Is Petty: Zemo threatens to reveal the Thunderbolts are the Masters if they ever think of turning on him. When Hawkeye busts him, he does so anyway.
  • Fusion Dance: Zemo combines himself with Klaue to form a giant fifty-foot Klaue-monster.
  • Good Feels Good: Songbird's started to feel this way about being a legitimate hero, and implores the others to come around to it.
  • Heel–Face Turn: All the Thunderbolts save Zemo turn good (or at least good-ish) and help thwart his plan.
  • Holographic Disguise: The Thunderbolts are the Masters of Evil, their outfits and powers largely disguised by holograms... somehow.
  • I Call It "Vera": Hulk tries taking Zemo's sword, only for Iron Man to confiscate it, much to Hulk's upset, as he'd already named it "Swordy".
  • Jerkass Ball: After last episode had him totally okay with the Thunderbolts, here it's Hawkeye who suddenly doesn't trust them.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: Klaue ends up exploding into a million fragments, taking Zemo with him.
  • Meaningful Echo: Black Widow assists Meteorite, who shrugs it off with a "whatever". Later, Meteorite does the same, and Natasha gives her a "whatever" in return.
  • No Body Left Behind: Zemo, at the end of things, but the Avengers figure he'll be back sooner or later.
  • Villain Ball:
    • Back in the T-Bolts warehouse, Citizen V monologues to reveal he and the others are the Masters, even undoing their disguises, for no real reason, which allows Hawkeye to catch them in the act.
    • For that matter, the Thunderbolts disguising their Masters of Evil outfits under holograms, as opposed to the comics, where they made the more sensible decision of those just being their actual outfits.
