The Avengers try to track the scattered Infinity Stones, only to come under attack from a new enemy who seems to know all their weaknesses. Meanwhile, Falcon questions his worth to the team.
Tropes:
- Beware the Nice Ones: Falcon is the only responsible for all the Avengers contingency plans, having cooked them up before he ever joined the team, simply as a thought experiment.
- Bring It: Thor gets teleported right to Surtur's doorstep, and tells him to bring it. When Thor reappears, it transpires Sutur did in fact bring it, and it was more than Thor could take.
- Covered in Gunge: The "HYDRA" robots cover everyone in a weird purple goo. Harmless to humans and Asgardians, and technically harmless to Gamma Mutants... but that doesn't mean it doesn't have an effect on ol' Jade Jaws.
- Damn You, Muscle Memory!: In-universe, Nighthawk capitalizes on Steve's reflexive response to threats to immobilize him.
- Dramatic Unmask: Nighthawk takes off his cowl to reveal he is Kyle Richmond.
- Dude, Where's My Respect?: Kyle Richmond's offer to Sam seems mildly tempting at first, as Sam's made to sit on the sidelines while the other Avengers do everything. Then it turns out where Nighthawk got his plans from...
- Easily Forgiven: None of the other Avengers are too bothered by Sam's plans, Cap admitting it's useful just in case, and though Sam expects to be kicked off the team, he's not. As Nat puts it, someone that smart is someone they need on their team.
- Foreshadowing: Among the statues in the citadel are ones resembling Nighthawk and Hyperion's other Squadron teammates, Speed Demon and Zarda, who'll show up in a few episodes.
- Intoxication Ensues: Sam's anti-Hulk plan is cover him in a special substance which responds to Gamma Radiation, causing Hulk to essentially get completely hammered.
- We Can Rule Together: Nighthawk asks Falcon to join him. He might actually mean it.
