The Avengers continue their pursuit of Ultron, but are down one member, with Captain America leaving the team after a disagreement with Iron Man's leadership.
Luckily, Tony has found an effective replacement to counter the adaptable robot menace: The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

- All According to Plan: The Avengers break up due to broad dissatisfaction with Tony's attitude, which was just Phase 1 of Ultron's actual plan.
- And Zoidberg: Spidey explains he has his own experiences with a team... and Nova.
- Bait-and-Switch: Thor learns Tony built the Asgardian armor as a contingency for fighting him, and asks why Tony never told him... he could've been fighting it instead of the Hulk!
- Breaking the Fellowship: Thanks to Tony's secret-keeping and his arrogance, the Avengers split in half. Cap, Black Widow, Hulk and Falcon go their own way.
- Disapproving Look: Hawkeye interrupts one of Spider-Man's chats with the viewer to glower furiously at him.
- Jerkass Ball: Iron Man's clearly not taking Cap having left the Avengers with maturity or grace.
- Made of Explodium: The SHIELD drones Spidey touches explode the minute he makes contact. Meanwhile, the ones Hulk smashes just give off some small explosions, but remain intact.
- Perspective Flip: What Ultimate Spider-Man might look like from the other side of the fourth wall; a childish weirdo who talks to himself in the middle of fights.
- Something Only They Would Say: Nick Fury realizes he's been deceived by Ultron when he sees footage of Spidey taunting the SHIELD drones, because only the real Spidey is that juvenile.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Cap and Black Widow try, but Tony utterly refuses to take anything in.
