Tropes:

  • Asshole Victim: Griez, who gets shot in the head for his insults about Sasha.
  • Back for the Finale: Of the first part of the season at least. We get to see Pieck, Galliard and Reiner again in this episode after their extended hiatus since the end of the Marley arc.
  • Better the Devil You Know: When a confused Gabi asks Pieck whether she had betrayed the Warriors or not, she states that she does believe in her own dreams of a free Eldia and has no faith in the Marleyan government, but she'd much rather fight at the side of the Warriors than to follow Eren, after leading Eren and Gabi to believe otherwise.
  • Boom, Headshot!: How Griez dies, courtesy of Yelena.
  • Brutal Honesty: Pieck is fully aware that Marley will never grant the Liberio Eldians the freedom they seek, no matter how much they help the country, and that with the Titans becoming an obsolete weapon amid the world's rapid modernization that they would soon have no further use for the Eldians living under their rule. She is the one to spell this out to Gabi when the latter assumes her a traitor to their cause, and Gabi is forced to see that everything she has done in the Marley's service has been meaningless.
Pieck: Gabi. Are we Marleyans? Or Eldians? What do you think?
    Gabi: We are honorary Marleyans.
Pieck: No. We are... the people of Ymir. That is a truth that you cannot escape. No matter what name we take on, we are still humans that can turn into Titans. Just like you saw in Fort Slava, the power of the Titans will sooner or later become irrelevant. Which means, sooner or later, Marley will have no more use for us, and will kill us all. Even if we keep trying to prove that we're "good Eldians", the day that we are free will never come. We have no choice but to take back our human rights with our own two hands.
  • Cliffhanger: The first half of the final season ends with Marley beginning its counterattack against Paradis and Eren preparing to have his rematch with Reiner.
  • Continuity Nod: Upon seeing Yelena again, Pieck snarkily remarks that her beard looked good on her.
  • Crocodile Tears: Armin tries to get Yelena to trust him by leading her to believe he's moved by her, Zeke and Eren's plan of finishing off the Eldian race and saving the world in the process. What exactly he was trying to achieve is still yet to be seen, as the arrival of Pieck and Galliard interrupt his plan.
  • Daddy's Girl: Pieck is this, as she became a Warrior to give her father, her only family, a better life.
  • Dude Magnet: Pieck, once again, is shown to be quite the charmer and her greeting the many men at the capital building the Yeagerists have taking over leaves many of them flustered.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: In the crowd shot, after Pieck has said hello to the Yeagerists, Galliard can be seen amongst the various members, foreshadowing the upcoming attack.
  • Internal Reveal: Zeke's plan to sterilize all Eldians is revealed to Armin, Mikasa, Connie, Jean and Niccolo by Yelena.
  • Irony: When Eren asks Pieck where the enemy is, to seek out anyone planning to fight against Eldia, she responds by pointing at him, preparing for a trap by Galliard. It has become clear that Eren has become a threat to not just Eldia and Marley, but possibly the entire world.
  • Manipulative Bastard:
    • Armin tries to get to Yelena with Crocodile Tears after learning the full extent of Zeke's plan. What he intended on doing afterwards remains to be seen, as Pieck and Galliard infiltration on the military headquarters interrupted his plan.
    • Pieck tells Eren a sob story about her father and how she wants to show him a free Eldia before her time as a Titan Shifter passes, and does so in order to ingratiate herself to his cause by also promising him that she'd rat out her undercover comrades. She positions Eren at the middle of the Shinganshina military headquarters rooftop, and then Galliard breaks through from underneath using the Jaws Titan in an attempt to eat Eren, signaling the Marley/Warrior troops at nearby zeppelins to begin the attack.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Discussed when Pieck tells the story of how she became a Warrior to get medical care for her father. She says that, while her father will live longer now, he's overwhelmed with the grief of knowing that he will eventually outlive Pieck, as her term as the Cart Titan is coming to an end. This is, in part, what motivates her to want to free Eldia.
  • Speak Ill of the Dead: Griez taunts Niccolo by insulting Sasha's memory. His racist remarks ultimately get him killed by Yelena.
  • True Companions: Pieck tells Gabi that while she may not trust the Marleyan government she does believe in her fellow comrades and brothers in arms whom she has fought together with.
