After losing Eren and Ymir to the traitors Mikasa and Armin reflect upon their past with him. After remembering their past the two resolve to find their friend. Meanwhile the Survey Corps arrive with reinforcements to hunt down the traitors.
Tropes:
- An Arm and a Leg: Eren wakes up with no arms, though the next episode preview shows that he regenerates them shortly thereafter.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: A few MP's we see are annoyed that the mission they've been called for may not happen. Levi snarks that if they're really so eager to fight Titans, they should join the Survey Corps. And then the Military Police end up forcibily enlisted as reinforcements to retrieve Eren.
- Breather Episode: A dialogue and flashback-heavy episode, which is sandwiched between a major revelation (and its fallout) and the Survey Corp's mission to recapture Eren.
- The Bus Came Back: Jean finally appears for the first time this season (not counting a flashback).
- Determinator:
- Discussed. Even as a child, Eren may not have won every fight he was in, but he never gave up. For this reason, Hannes concludes that Eren is either actively fighting back against capture or has died trying.
- Hange, despite being wounded by the Colossal Titan's flop, still has enough perserverance to stay conscious and tell the rest of the Corps where Reiner and Bertolt would be hiding.
- Dope Slap: How Pixis' subordinate wakes him up.
- Drinking on Duty: Apparently Pixis has no problems with drinking until the point of passing out. On top of Wall Rose. In the middle of a Titan crisis.
- Heroic BSoD: Mikasa temporarily breaks down when she finds out Eren has been kidnapped and nobody can do anything about it (yet). Hannes helps snap her out of it.
- Mundane Made Awesome: Mikasa and Armin determinedly eating some crackers (which has a real "take a potato chip and eat it" vibe to it).
- Worf Had the Flu: Hange has been incapacitated due to the Colossal Titan's drop and Levi is still recovering from his broken ankle from his fight with the Female Titan. Therefore Erwin takes command of the allied forces to hunt down Bertolt and Reiner.
