This is quickly lampshaded when Arthur reads a history book to learn how this happened, revealing that the producer deliberately dropped the book's plot in favor of writing an original musical with the same title to showcase his songwriting talent.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes: In-Universe, 93,000,000 Miles in a Balloon has long gone out of print, and Arthur tries desperately to find another printing of it that has the last few pages, since his doesn't.
- What Are Records?: When Arthur's mother does an online search for anything relating to 93,000,000 Miles in a Balloon, she finds out a movie adaptation was produced and can be rented on 16 millimeter. Arthur asks "What's 16 millimeter?" The scene then changes to Arthur and his friends about to watch the movie on a noisy old 16mm film projector...Dad: It's been 25 years since I've used this old 16mm projector. Hope it makes it!
