Recap / Arrested Development S3E7 "Prison Break-In"

Go To

Michael is worried when he finds out that the prison warden is dating his mother and that the Bluth Foundation dinner is being held in the prison's new wing.

The Arrested Development episode "Prison Break-In" provides examples of:

  • Body Horror: The hair plugs are really doing a number on Tobias's body, causing his skin to pale, peel off and squirt blood.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: In-Universe. Warden Gentles is a reasonably nice guy. The character based on him in New Warden is an asshole.
  • I Never Said It Was Poison: George Sr. blows his cover by mentioning to Michael that Warden Gentles and Lucille were at the office around 4:00.
  • Kissing Cousins: George Michael thinks this is a theme in New Warden, mistaking the slang term 'cuz' for a literal reference to a cousin:
"Anything can happen when two people share a cell, cuz."
  • Last-Second Word Swap:
Lindsay: She just called to ask me to bring her a tube of "Va...(George Michael enters)... gis-table" paste.
  • Literary Allusion Title: To Prison Break.
  • Prison Riot: The gala guest revolt at the prison after learning about the GVH scam.
  • Show Within a Show: Stefan Gentles' play, New Warden, snippets of which performed by schoolchildren are shown throughout the episode.
  • Sock It to Them: In New Warden, Gentles' character threatens to beat a drug-dealing inmate with a pillowcase full of batteries.
  • Stop Trick: GOB uses this trick when making the candy ball machine disappear in his promotional clip for the GVH cause. It's done amateurishly though.
  • Tap on the Head: Oscar goes out after getting the cage lid on his head.
  • Tempting Fate:
GOB: It's a jet pack, Michael. What could possibly go wrong?
