Recap / Archer S 6 E 11 Achub Y Morfilod

Go To

In an attempt to smooth things over with Lana, Archer kidnaps her and takes her on a romantic vacation to Wales. Meanwhile, the Drones give Ray a new hand.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Actor Allusion: Lloyd puts on a wig and phony American accent while dressing as "Randy."
  • Animation Bump: Lana's making out with Lloyd is very fluid compared to the rest of the episode.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Archer's face is cut to ribbons in the crash, but Lana doesn't receive a single scratch, despite not wearing a seat belt in a convertible.
  • Continuity Nod: Lana wakes up and remembers what she found last episode. Things go From Bad to Worse when she learns how she ends up in Wales with Archer.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Sure, Lana was legitimately pissed for a lot of things Archer did before this episode even began, but she could have found a better way to get him to stop the car besides choking him with a scarf.
  • Digging Yourself Deeper: The possibility of your reformed significant other cheating on you? Not cool. Drugging you and taking you overseas after a big fight? Extremely uncool.
    • Then there's overhearing the S.O. talk about the kiss when insisting that nothing happened.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Lana attempts to convince the MI5 agent that she and Archer (or, Randy, or, Lloyd posing as Archer's Randy) came to Wales for a romantic honeymoon. She's also doing this to get back at Archer kissing Katya.
  • Enforced Plug: Archer plugs Glengoolie brand whiskey twice.
Glengoolie: For the best of times.
  • Gratuitous Welsh: The title translates as "Save the Whales". Doubles as a Pun-Based Title when translated to English because, well. Say it out loud. The town name of Dyffryn Ddibwys means "Unimportant Valley".
  • Hulk Speak: Daffyd speaks this way. Archer even refers to him as Lenny.
  • Hurricane of Puns: While in the operating room, the Drones go through every "hand" pun they can think of in the first scene alone before Ray interrupts.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Remember when Lana found a vagina in Archer's bathroom sink? Yeah. She's not going to let him forget that.
  • Terrorists Without a Cause: Archer dismantles Lloyd's cause by accident via asking honest questions. Archer is horrified to hear the British government flooded an ancient village For the Evulz, only for Lloyd to explain it was to build a reservoir to increase drinking water in the region. Archer is still upset thousands were displaced, only for Lloyd to admit less than fifty were impacted. Archer points out those people were still left homeless, only for Lloyd to admit they were actually compensated and were now living in much, much nicer homes.
  • Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters: Lloyd views his Free Wales Army as freedom fighters, as they claimed to be fighting for a small town, even though its people were well-compensated and housed when they were made to move for a dam to be built over. The MI5 agent considers them terrorists as they attempted to blow up said dam for their cause.
