Antique Bakery has been doing well since the Baking Fair at the mall. However, famous French patisserie and one of Ono's ex-boyfriends Jean-Baptiste Hevens arrives in Japan to offer Ono a chance to work with him again in Paris.
- Big Damn Heroes: Keiichiro and Chikage pull this just as Jean's about to crush Ono's hand. Chikage even grabs Jean's hand and tries to do the same thing to him.
- Disproportionate Retribution:
- Keiichiro threatens to kill Ono and Jean if they kissed in his shop.
- Later, Jean beats up Ono for declining his offer to work in Paris.
- Domestic Abuse: It's blatantly clear that Ono's relationship with Jean was this as Jean beat up Ono for choosing to work for Keiichiro instead of his ex-boyfriend.
- Flowers of Romance: Jean presents Ono with a huge bouquet of roses when he finds him.
- Gratuitous French: Jean and Keiichiro both speak French in the first part of the episode. Obviously since Jean's native tongue is French, he pans Keiichiro's language skills.
- If you look closely behind the subtitles during Ono's flashback, you can see French subtitles.
- Heroic Self-Deprecation: Ono tries to excuse Jean's abusive behavior by saying that he deserves some of the punishment. Of course this upsets Chikage.
- I Choose to Stay: Ono already decided that he was going to stay with Antique Bakery before Keiichiro could beg him to stay with them.
- Late to the Realization: It takes Chikage a while before he realizes that Jean is one of Ono's ex-boyfriends as well as his teacher.
- Not Good with Rejection: Jean beats up Ono and even attempts to break his fingers for declining his offer to work with him in Paris.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Jean's eyes literally turn red as he tries to break Ono's fingers.
- Stalker with a Crush: Well, how else did Jean find Ono's apartment?
