TOXIC has completed its takeover of Neo Otaku City, and with Joe captured, Diesel is the city's only hope.
"Blood: The Last Hard Drive" provides examples of:
- Being Tortured Makes You Evil: Joe's time in the "Binge Chamber" (which is treated like The Ludovico Technique) brainwashed him into an agent of TOXIC.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Mrs. Sasuke gives all of her malware-infected blood to Diesel so that she could shut down the limiter and save the city.
- Long Game: Nancy claims that everything in season one — Joe's Gundam being destroyed and the Chief's murder spree being the ones expressly mentioned — was all orchestrated by her.Nancy: All of it an absurdly complex plan worthy of Cersei Lannister herself.
- The Ludovico Technique: The "Binge Chamber" is a room where Joe's eyes are held open as he is forced to watch "prestige television." Since Joe is an anime fan, this is treated as torture used to brainwash him.
- Police Brutality: The Anime Crimes Division has been "newly reformed" by TOXIC, having been assigned to arrest, "reeducate" and/or kill any "fake anime fans" with extreme prejudice.
- Police State: The episode begins with TOXIC having taken full-control of Neo-Otaku City, the news painting this as a good thing as TOXIC has transparently taken it over.
- Rule of Symbolism: If you look closely, Diesel's crest is the crest of Hope, her being the only person who can effectively fight against TOXIC in this time of turmoil in Neo Otaku City.
- Shut Up, Hannibal!: Right as Chief Brody is going to give a Hannibal Lecture (punctuated with Sarcastic Clapping) to Diesel after she kills all of his men, Diesel just shoots him too.
- Skewed Priorities: Played for Laughs. There is a scene from the perspective of a kid who was left homeless by the reformed ACD. They killed his mother and took his anime, but he seems more broken up by the later. The fact that he pines for anime so much despite having it taken away for only a few hours just adds to it.
