Tower Return: Warners catapult up to the Tower

The Big Candy Store contains examples of:

  • And I Must Scream: In the end, Flaxseed ends up getting trapped in a giant chocolate bunny, which is given to orphans.
Yakko: Wait until they get to the cream filling.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The nun returns with reinforcements just as Flaxseed grabs Dot and Wakko. While already angry about his rudeness from before, seeing him manhandle kids (and the Warners playing it up to mess with Flaxseed) pisses the nun off to no end.
Mother Superior: Stop right there! You put those children down, you beast!
  • Big Entrance: The Warners make their entrance charioteering a bus.
Yakko: How's that for an entrance?
  • The Cameo: The Goodfeathers appear on a fence at the beginning.
  • Don't Look Down: Flaxseed is on a high ladder, and is goaded by Dot with this.
Dot: Don't look down, mister. You might fall, hit your head and die, and your brains would leak AAAALLL over!
  • Ethereal Choir: Heard when the Warners see the candy store.
Yakko: One of these days, I'm gonna find those singers.
  • Expressive Uvula: A non-uvula version: After Sister Margaret Mary Ann June July asks Mr. Flaxseed for a donation, he laughs so hard, the camera moves into his mouth, past his uvula to show his tonsils laughing at her.
  • Kick the Dog: To ensure that viewers are not remotely sympathetic to Flaxweed, his first scene is rudely denying a nun charity and forcibly kicking her out of his store.
  • Loophole Abuse: When the nuns are about to give Flaxweed a beating, Flaxweed points out that their vows mean they can't resort to violence. But there's no rule about someone else pounding Flaxweed for them, is there?
  • Mama Bear: The nuns are very protective of children. They threaten Flaxseed for manhandling the Warners.
  • Mythology Gag: The animation of the Warners acting like a train is actually based on a piece of test animation before the show was greenlit.
  • Nuns Are Funny: At least, when they pray for the Notre Lame football team to beat up Flaxseed they are.
  • Pass the Popcorn: The Warners while watching Notre Lame kick the crap out of Flaxseed.
  • Prayer of Malice: After Flaxseed reminds the nuns they aren't allowed to be violent, they proceed to pray. At which point the Notre Lame Fighting Irish football team shows up and beats the ever loving crap out of Flaxseed for them.
Head Nun: Our prayers have been answered! (Blows the whistle to commence the beating)
  • Shout-Out: The Warners sing a parody of "The Candy Man Can" from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
  • "Take That!" Kiss: Dot gives Flaxseed a kiss when The Warners get back into the candy store.
Dot: Give us a kiss, kid! (quickly kisses Flaxseed)
  • Villain Has a Point: Flaxseed quickly reminds the nuns they aren't allowed to resort to physical violence. Of course, as stated above, that doesn't mean they can't get someone else to pummel him instead.

Bumbie's Mom contains examples of:

  • Animated Actor: Slappy takes Skippy to see Veena Waleen, the actress who played Bumbie's mom, to show him that it was just a movie and Bumbie's mom didn't really die. Skippy doesn't believe Veena is really Bumbie's mom because she has aged, like Slappy, but then Veena briefly transforms into her younger self to do a line from the movie and Skippy is convinced.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: On the airplane to New Mexico, the Warner siblings suddenly emerge from a suitcase, and the boys chase after Hello Nurse while Dot just does a ballet dance off screen. Slappy promptly lampshapes it.
    Slappy: That was pointless.
  • Calling Your Nausea: When Skippy announces he's airsick, Slappy rushes him to the next scene on a bus before he vomits.
  • The Cameo: Two of them...
    • On the airplane to New Mexico, a suitcase falls from the luggage compartment and the Warner siblings emerge from it, and Yakko and Wakko say "Helloooooo, nurse!" at the stewardess (played by Hello Nurse) and chase her, while Dot, uninterested in the stewardess, does a ballet dance. Slappy says to the audience, "That was pointless."
    • Among getting off the bus in New Mexico, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner zoom past the squirrels, with Wile E. flying on a helicopter pack chasing the Road Runner, only to be hit by the bus Slappy and Skippy just got off of. This time, Slappy mutters, "Enough with the gratuitous cameos!"
  • Captain Ersatz: It's pretty obvious that Bumbie is just a thinly-veiled parody of Bambi.
  • Children Are Tender-Hearted: Skippy cries when Bumbie's mother is shot by hunters. Slappy tries to calm him down by convincing him it was just a movie and she even takes him to see the actress who played Bumbie's mother to show him the truth.
  • Cool Aunt: Slappy schedules a spontaneous trip to her old actress friend to cheer up Skippy and show him that no one dies in movies.
  • Glasses of Aging: Veena Waleen didn't need glasses as a young actress, but she's shown to need them as an old lady.
  • Here We Go Again!: Just as Skippy is starting to recover, the in-flight movie is none of other than a parody of Old Yeller, complete with Oh, Crap! face from Slappy.
  • I Lied: After telling Skippy about Veena Waleen, Slappy asks him if she's ever lied to him before. Skippy begins listing off, "You said Keno's legal in Burbank. You said Magilla Gorilla was a woman..." But Slappy interrupts with "Can it!"
  • Inelegant Blubbering: Skippy's bawling over the death of Bumbie's mom is gross and loud, and after a while it begins to annoy Slappy. A while into Bumbie after the death scene, a forest fire breaks out, and it scares Skippy and makes him cry harder.
  • Medium Awareness / No Fourth Wall: Two instances from Slappy...
    • On the flight to New Mexico, when Skippy starts feeling airsick and feels like he's going to puke, Slappy says to the camera, "Dissolve to the next scene! Quick!" to which it dissolves to Slappy and Skippy now riding a bus in New Mexico.
    • At the end after Skippy starts crying all over again from the death of Old Yellow, Slappy says to the camera, "Fade Out, already! We got the joke." To which the episode ends.
  • Never Say "Die": Quite literally, as Skippy gets choked up when he mentions Bumbie's mom and can't even bring himself to say what happened. However, shortly after Skippy witnesses the death of Bumbie's mom, he sobs "Dead, she's dead.", and "dead" is never said again after that.
  • No Antagonist: There isn't a foe for Slappy to outwit in this episode, as the conflict instead comes from Skippy getting sad over a death in a movie.
  • Orphaned Punchline: "...so then Pebbles says, 'Get your own Bamm-Bamm, lady!'"
  • Please Wake Up: We hear Bumbie calling out for his mother after she's been shot. It doesn't end well onscreen, as Skippy starts crying.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: According to the wiki, writer Sherri Stoner based this episode on her own trauma from when she saw the infamous scene from Bambi, in which Bambi's mother gets killed by a hunter.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: When Hello Nurse, playing a flight attendant, asks Slappy if she would like anything, Slappy replies, "A sedative."
Hello Nurse: Huh? I don't get it.
    Slappy: Go away.
  • Shout-Out: When Slappy shows Skippy cartoon characters don't get hurt with a demonstration on a cartoon dog, a house falls on him and his feet curl up in a similar fashion to the Wicked Witch of the East from The Wizard of Oz.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Slappy at the end when "Old Yellow" gets shot during the in-flight movie, and she flatly says "Uh-oh" right before Skippy starts bawling again.
  • This Is Reality: Slappy tries to reassure Skippy that a movie wouldn't just kill an actress for real. Bumbie's mom dying is all special effects. She grabs a Pluto expy to demonstrate that Toons can't be hurt. Skippy isn't convinced until Veena redoes the scene and proves she's alive.
  • Trauma Button: Every time Bumbie's mom is mentioned, Skippy starts crying. Lampshaded by Slappy.
Slappy: Pavlov would love this kid.
  • Waking Non Sequitur: When Skippy cries after seeing Bumbie's mom getting shot, Slappy, who had fallen asleep, wakes up and shouts "Pat, I'd like to buy a vowel!"

Closing Tower Gag: "Gooooooooodbye, Nurse!"- Yakko, Wakko, and Dot

Old Yellow

Just as Skippy is starting to recover, the in-flight movie is none of other than a parody of Old Yeller, Slappy has this reaction when "Old Yellow" gets shot during the in-flight movie, and she flatly says "Uh-oh" right before Skippy starts bawling again.

How well does it match the trope?
