Morning Malaise: The Warners give Howie Tern, the host of a radio show, a hard time.
Take My Siblings Please! contains examples of:
- Anticlimax: After Wakko and Dot each spend several minutes messing with the troll and persuading him to eat Yakko instead, Yakko proceeds to cross the bridge in two seconds, abruptly crushing the troll with a mallet before he got three words out.
- Diegetic Soundtrack Usage: While walking across the bridge, Wakko sings, "We're tiny, we're toony / We're all a little—", but then says, "Eh, I'm sick of that song", then proceeds to sing "It's time for Animaniacs!"
- Interactive Narrator: After Dot tricks the troll, Yakko and Wakko are seen taking five. The narrator has to tell them to resume romping.
- Left the Background Music On: Whenever anybody mentions the troll, Wakko plays some dramatic music on a pipe organ. At one point Dot does it because Wakko is occupied.Dot: Well somebody had to do it.
- No Fourth Wall: After Wakko bails on the romping, Yakko summons several chorus girls, then says, "I love cartoons."
- Shout-Out: The first organ played is the one Nemo played from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
- Song Parody: While walking across the bridge, Dot does a lawyer-friendly version of "The Girl from Ipanema".
- Storybook Opening: The cartoon begins with one.
- Whole-Plot Reference: The short is a parody of "Three Billy Goats Gruff".
The Mindy 500 contains examples of:
- The Cameo: Yakko, Wakko, Dot, and Ralph show up at one point.
- Hypocritical Humor: Mindy's mother says that she's going to draft a PTA resolution against negligent mothers.
Morning Malaise contains examples of:
- Aside Glance: Yakko gives the audience one after Howie compares him to a demented monkey.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: Howie Tern and his co-host Robin are obvious parodies of Howard Stern and Robin Quivers.
- Take That!: At one point, Howie demands to know why the Warners don't go torment Rush Limbaugh. Yakko says that they're afraid he might eat them.
NOTE: In this short season, the opening line of "While Bill Clinton plays the sax" was changed to "We've got wisecracks by the stacks", since the writers felt the original reference to the 1992 Presidential election was becoming dated (1994 was a midterm year). The saxophone part that Clinton supposedly played remains through to the end of the series.
