Opening line: (all) "Back again-y!"

Tropes found in "Rome Sweet Rome":

  • Anachronism Stew: Referenced. An Insufferable Genius points out that Nero shouldn't be playing the fiddle as it wouldn't be invented for another 800 years. He also points out that the Warners can't be selling Ash Globes from the Mount Vesuvius eruption because that won't happen for another 11 years. Dovetails with Hypocritical Humor, as the man clearly wears eyeglasses, which weren't invented until the late 14th century.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Yakko immediately protects Wakko when tigers run at him.
  • The Caligula: Nero, obviously. A very irresponsible and egotistical ruler. Caligula himself gets name-dropped.
  • Major General Song: Nero's song is to the tune of it.
  • Orbital Shot: Used on the Warners when they are cheered on in the coliseum as a reference to The Avengers (2012).
  • Shout-Out:
  • Take That, Critics!: An Insufferable Genius repeatedly shows up to point out cases of Artistic License – History and lambast the episode as poorly written. After doing it one too many times, he gets mauled by tigers.
  • Trumplica: Nero is a blatant example. Lampshaded by Yakko, who interrupts Nero's song to point out the comparison:
Yakko: Um, we're still talking about Nero, right?
    • The bust of Nero's mother also sports the distinctive bouffant once worn by Donald's mother Mary Anne Mcleod Trump in the late nineties.
  • "The Villain Sucks" Song: The Warners preceed to hijack Nero's song and insult him for being a terrible and corrupt emperor.
  • While Rome Burns: Referenced. During his song, Nero plays the fiddle while the city burns.
  • You Wanna Get Sued?: The Barbarians get a DMCA takedown notice from Universal demanding this unauthorized parody of Conan the Barbarian be removed from the episode immediately.

Tropes found in "Backwards Pinky":

  • Ambiguous Syntax: When directing Pinky out of the museum, Brain says "Your right!". Pinky thinks he said "You're right!" and is touched because Brain has never said that to him before.
  • Body Horror: When traveling to the Smithsonian, Pinky and Brain become conjoined.
  • Mondegreen Gag: Pinky mispronounces internet as "intranet".
  • Portmanteau: Pinky says he and Brain's conjoined name should be "Brinky." Referencing the popular ship name for them in the fandom and the name of an episode of their spinoff. Pinky's other suggestion for their conjoined name is "Prain."
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Brain puts on fake puppy dog eyes to steal a diamond ring from a scientist.
  • Stylistic Suck: The webtoon that Pinky watches intentionally resembles amateur flash animation.
  • Teleporter Accident: Brain and Pinky end up getting fused together while teleporting due to Pinky's phone interfering with the teleporter's signal.
  • The Unreveal: Whatever Brain's plan involving his teleporter isn't revealed. Justified as it becomes irrelevant when Brain and Pinky getting fused together and need to get separated before it was too late.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: Brain is seen vomiting after Pinky eats a rotten hotdog from the garbage.
  • Your Other Left: While escaping with the diamond, Brain tries to give Pinky directions. Unfortunately, since he's facing backwards, it leads to to this.
