Tropes

  • Art Evolution: This is the first episode to be animated in Toon Boom rather than Adobe Flash, resulting in more detail and more expressive animation.
  • Bad Vibrations: Although we never see him move on-camera, we do hear Terence's footsteps(?) and see the ground shake as he approaches.
  • Caring Gardener: Matilda tends to a garden in this episode, and tries to get Terence to move so his shadow stops blocking the sunlight.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: The explosion caused by the dynamite uproots a flower, causing it to land on Matilda's head. After the explosion fails to move him, she comes close to giving up... and then notices the flower on her head. She gets the idea to move her garden onto Terence.
  • Hope Spot: After using dynamite on Terence, he starts to shake, making Matilda think he's finally going to move... only for him to sink even deeper into the ground.
  • Indestructibility Montage: Much of the episode consists of Matilda's various attempts to get Terence to move, none of which so much as budge him.
  • Jerkass: Terence doesn't seem to care about Matilda or her garden, given he just shows up uninvited and ruins it.
  • Made of Iron: Terence is completely immune to all of Matilda's attempts to get him out of the way, including lassos, boulders, and dynamite.
  • Mood Whiplash: After seeing her flowers wilt due to Terence's shadow, Matilda tries to calm down by meditating... and then has a massive Freak Out.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Matilda's final shot at removing Terence is to blow him up with dynamite. Naturally, it still doesn't work.
  • When He Smiles: Terence is apparently fond of the garden that Matilda makes on his body at the end, giving a very rare smile.
