Dylan takes the ship to a derelict Guard station in the hopes of resupplying. To their surprise, the station is populated by children who come to view him as the long-awaited Messiah.
- Artificial Gravity: Rommie dials up the artificial gravity on the bridge to disarm and immobilize the kids.
- Artistic License – Nuclear Physics: Somehow the radiation produced by the Nova Bombs doesn't kill the station inhabitants until their twenties and apparently doesn't have any effect on fertility.
- Cargo Cult: The station kids have turned their ancestors' mission to supply the High Guard into a religion, with rituals such as opening (in-person) gatherings by shouting "beginning transmission!"
- Chekhov's Gun: Dylan salvages the nova bomb from Mapes's first slipfighter and puts it in storage. We'll be seeing it again next season...
- Child Soldiers: The station inhabitants, by necessity.
- A God Am I: Rommie declares this after she easily disarms the kids."Dylan may not be a god, but on this ship, I am."
- Idiot Ball: Dylan really should have known better than to "bless" some "holy warriors."
- Large Ham: Hayek. Dear God, Hayek..."The Day of Lightning...is NOW!!!"
- Naked on Arrival: Rommie. And she kicks plenty of ass while doing it.
- Oh, Crap!: After using his access code to open the "Noble Shrine," Dylan is pleased to find a squadron of vintage slipfighters ready for launch. Then Hayek and Mapes issue an arming code, causing him to realize that the radiation is from nova bombs.
- Out-of-Character Moment: Tyr's Big "WHAT?!" when Dylan gives the command to get rid of the nova bombs.
- Screw the Money, I Have Rules!: Tyr suggests they use the nova bombs to help their cause, either by threatening their use or selling them to the highest bidder. Dylan refuses to force or buy the new Commonwealth.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Tyr says this to Dylan when he rigs the slipfighters to self-destruct with their nova bombs.
