- Hot Witch: The Witches of Woodstock, Monica, Annika, and Bubonica, are all youthful and attractive women with bubbly personalities who fawn over most men (though even they aren't willing to deal with cheaters and jerks).
- Laser-Guided Karma: Of the positive variety, as the Witches of Woodstock fawn over Lao Shi as thanks for him defending them without the aid of a magical cheating device.
- Make It Look Like an Accident: A non-murderous example; Jake is disappointed upon learning that the destruction potion for the controller is ready just as he's gotten a taste for using it, so he throws a remaining goblin into the pot to overturn it while also appearing as if he's doing it to defend the Witches' honor.
- Reality Warper: The game controller allows Jake to make minor alterations to reality such as increasing his strength, intelligence, charm, etc. as well as being able to jump backward in time a few minutes to redo a mistake or simply avoid paying a meal tab.
- Required Secondary Powers: The controller seems to pick and choose whose memories are overwritten by the replay function based on who the user subconsciously wants to be affected. For example, Jake is able to selectively let Fu retain his memories when he replays him getting kissed by Bubonica despite the Witches being right next to him.

- A Taste of Their Own Medicine: The lead goblin uses the controller to give Jake the exact same unfair beatdown he used it to give the goblins.
