Even Trixie doesn't know where she got the purse from.

Due to a youth-sucking magical creature, Jake gets a taste of what it's like to be an adult. While he embraces all the newfound freedom, he soon learns that being an adult isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Tropes

  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Brad copies Jake's "Aw, man!" after he accidentally drives his truck into a wall while trying to show off.
  • Call-Back: The Terrible Teen Security System from "Haley Gone Wild" is still hooked up in Jake's room. This turns out to be a big problem, as it means Jake can't simply sneak out through his window so his dad won't see how he magically aged up seven years overnight.
  • Credit Card Plot: One of Jake's first mistakes upon becoming an adult is to purchase a sports car with four separate credit cards. When Trixie informs him that he has to pay back the loans at some point, he comments that he'll need to sign up for more credit cards.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Jake's attempt to pass his driving test results in large amounts of property damage, ran red lights, and going the wrong way down a one-way street. He manages to get the instructor to pass him anyway by threatening to show up the next day and take the test again with him.
  • Elderly Immortal: Fu has no visible change in appearance after being sucked on by the Avimitrius despite his claim that he's gained several new wrinkles.
  • Growing Up Sucks: Jake finds that despite all the freedom and advantages that come with being an adult, you also have to deal with things like debt collectors and having the average person on the street holding you to a higher standard, not to mention him being too large to fit through the same tight spaces he used to be able to. Trixie and Spud, meanwhile, experience all of the sufferings that come with being elderly with almost none of the benefits (sans Spud using his wrinkles to carry snack mix).
  • Lost in Transmission: Fu Dog warns Jake to watch out for the Avimitrius’s tentacles, but this gets cut off and sounds to Spud like “tents”. The latter proceeds to insist that Fu said “tents” everytime someone brings up the warning.
  • Never Say "Die": Utilized after Lao-Shi is left on death's door after his own encounter with the Avimitrius. If Jake doesn't reverse the effects by destroying the creature...
Fu Dog: The old man's on a bullet train to bye-bye-ville!
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Jake ignoring the calls of his grandfather and Fu Dog because he's too busy enjoying being an adult leaves them no choice but to go against the Avimitrius alone. Cue Lao-Shi getting aged even more by the Avimitrius.
  • Overnight Age-Up: Jake finds out that he's become a 21-year-old after waking up the morning after his first encounter with the Avimitrius. Trixie and Spud also wake up as two elderly folks.
  • Running Gag: Spud getting hung up on Fu Dog having said "tents" due to Fu's warning about the Avimitrius' tentacles getting cut off.
  • Shout-Out: Spud quotes Obi-Wan's "If you strike me down..." line from A New Hope while fighting the elderly gnome with a shuffleboard stick.
  • The Stinger: Jake gets to see a hologram of how Brad's going to look when he's old, proceeding to taunt the hologram... until the hologram teaches him a lesson.
