In preparation for a neighborhood pool party, Stan tells his family to get in tip-top shape, but an accident ruins the Smith family name.
This episode includes examples of:
- Break the Haughty: After badgering his family constantly not to embarrass him at the party, Stan himself makes a laughing stock of himself by accidentally defecating in the pool. Zigzagged since the incident does not remotely humble Stan or make him reflect on his behaviour towards his family; even when Steve calls him out on it, he snaps he couldn't care less about them and is only distraught that his reputation is in tatters.
- Description Cut: Hayley asks Stan how they're going to possibly get close to President Obama's daughters when they go to the most exclusive private school in the country. Cut to Francine and Hayley claiming to be a lesbian couple with Roger as their adopted daughter.
- He Knows Too Much: Stan murders the man at the barber shop because he knows about his embarrassing stunt.Stan: (points gun at the man) You had to remember.
Man: C'mon. You're really gonna kill me just 'cause I know your secret? - It's All About Me: Stan is totally unfettered in his quest to repair his image, making his family move multiple times, killing at least one person offscreen, and shrugging off Klaus' death for the fact his plan went up in smoke. Semi-justified since it was All Just a Dream, not that this behaviour is particularly out of character for Stan.
- Karma Houdini:
- Stan kills at least one man to try and prevent the embarrassing story going forward.
- Roger also posts a video of the pool party online behind Stan's back. Roger quickly grabs a nearby baby to avoid Stan's wrath.
- Noodle Incident: Stan has an entire book of names of people who gave him bad advice in extended fantasy sequences.
- Putting the Pee in Pool: The plot is kicked off when Stan craps in the pool and becomes a laughing stock in the eyes of his friends, family, neighbors, and even random strangers.
- Storefront Television Display: After Stan humiliates himself by pooping in the neighbors' pool, he drives to work the next day and stops at a stoplight next to an electronics store where a crowd has gathered to watch the TV display. The TVs start showing a news report about Stan's accident, then someone in the crowd spots Stan and the whole crowd starts laughing at him.
- Whole-Plot Reference: To the short story An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: It turns out the whole episode's events were All Just a Dream, and Stan is given a chance to get through the party without embarrassment. He ends up defecating for real and gets laughed at.
