Go To

After capturing a fossa during an attack, King Julien has the idea to try and "lemur-ize" the fossa so it can serve as a powerful ally to the kingdom.

Tropes

  • Carnivore Confusion: Even when Mary Ann is successfully "lemur-ized" she still talks about her past of eating lemurs in a casual tone.
Mary Ann: You know what they say King Julien, the only thing worst than being eaten by a fossa is not being eaten by a fossa!
    (Julien and Mary Ann laugh)
Clover: You realize you're laughing about our people being eaten?
  • Continuity Nod: The lemurs still have and use the hot tub/crock pot from He Blinded Me With Science.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Clover's plan to stop Mary Ann from spreading propaganda was just to remind her that she's a carnivore and scare the lemurs so that they don't trust her any more. She didn't really plan out what to do afterwards, with an extremely intelligent fossa now attacking the kingdom.
  • Foot Popping: Mary Ann does this while making out with Horst, toppling over the crock pot/hot tub in the process.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Julien successfully domesticates the fossa, but Mary Ann becomes so intelligent she she starts spreading revolutionary anti-monarchy ideas across the kingdom.
  • Music Soothes the Savage Beast: The first breakthrough Julien has in taming the fossa is with music.
  • Mythology Gag: This won't be the last time King Julien would try to recruit a domesticated predator as the kingdom's defender.
  • No-Sell: To demonstrate just how smart Mary-Ann has become, she has modified the traps that Clover originally used to catch her such that the traps spring on the users instead.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: The only real impact of Mary-Ann's Pygmalion Snap Back is that she loses her refined accent and returns to a growly (but still fully articulate) way of speaking.
  • Pygmalion Plot
  • Pygmalion Snap Back: Only partially, Mary-Ann returns to her carnivorous ways but still remains intelligent.
  • Shaped Like Itself: When Julien fails to convert the fossa with the magic of science, he turns to the magic of... magic.
  • Shout-Out: The title to My Fair Lady.
  • Title Drop: "Look at my fair fossa, all sweet!"
  • We Have Reserves: Julien's fossa defense plan, the "Food Pyramid". A pyramid of lemurs with Julien at the top, it is just meant to save Julien's life as he expects by the time the fossa get to him, they will be too full from eating the lemurs at the bottom to bother.
