As Jake goes through some personal changes, he's haunted by a sinister dream encounter with his brother Jermaine.
Tropes:
- Actor Allusion: A character voiced by Andy Merrill commenting on how he could eat beans all day.
- Continuity Nod: The fused James clones are still patrolling the Desert of Wonders.
- Dramatic Irony: No one In-Universe can explain where Jake's new form came from (alive anyway). The viewers, however, can make an educated guess.
- Dreaming of Things to Come: Jake dreams of Jermaine painting a mountain in an abstract style. Later he finds that painting in a café and realizes it may have meant something. He goes to the mountain from his dream and discovers that Jermaine has indeed become an abstract painter.
- I Need to Go Iron My Dog: Dirt Beer Guy at first seems okay with the new Jake, but once he realizes it's Jake he's been talking to the whole time, he quickly excuses himself.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Jake finds it weird that his brother Jermaine is drawing abstract art when he was previously strictly into realism. Accepting that his brother's attitude towards art has changed helps Jake with his sudden change in appearance.
- Status Quo Is God: Jake's appearance returns to normal once he accepts himself.
- Tastes Like Purple: Jake's senses are so enhanced he is able to taste the feelings on his toast. "Gettin' ground into flour and turned into bread really did a number on this wheat's sense of self."
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Jermaine doesn't seem too concerned with Jake's new appearance, as if he always suspected it was somehow inside him. Justified as he does mention that their dad told Jermaine Jake would need their support when he'd go through some unspecified changes one day, so Joshua must have figured something like this would've happened.
