When they return to Ooo, Finn and Jake discover that there have been radical changes in their absence.

- Continuity Nod: Jake brings up the time Finn spend years trapped in a mind-dungeon.
- Department of Redundancy Department: Tree Trunks asks Sweet P to stand still like a windowpane as she coats him in caramel to get him back to normal. Like a windowpane.
- Getting Smilies Painted on Your Soul: Bubblegum's candy-fication turns people into almost entirely different, happy people without any pesky "flaws".
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Finn points out that their last adventure, the eight-part "Islands" miniseries, was possibly their longest one yet.
- Let's Meet the Meat: Lemongrab as Lemonpink happily wrings his body out to dispense pink lemonade for others. Jake almost takes him up on the offer before Finn stops him.Finn: No. That is body juice.
- Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: BMO's reaction to the altered Ooo.BMO: (entering the candied treehouse) This is like some kind of a sick joke... and I love it!
- Not Himself: Everyone affected by Princess Bubblegum's powers, most notably PB herself and Lemongrab: Peebs is normally fairly serious and very concerned about the state of her kingdom and its subjects and Lemongrab is fairly neurotic, awkward and introverted, but "Terrible Tower" PB only wants everyone to have fun and relax, and Lemonpink goes out of his way with a wagon to bring Fun, NECTR and Shelby his "handmade" lemonade.
- Only Sane Man: Finn and Sweet P are the only ones who are freaked out at the transformation of Ooo and its inhabitants, although Sweet P is too frightened of the sudden changes to do anything but cry and try to hide from Tree Trunks and Mr. Pig. Jake just takes it in stride, and BMO likes the fact that everyone has turned to candy.
- Theme Naming: Those transformed into candy versions of themselves take on new names reflective of their sugary and cheery state.
- Fern is now Fun.
- NEPTR is now NECTR.
- Shelby the worm is now Shelby the gummy worm.
- Lemongrab is now Lemonpink.
- Marceline is now Marshmaline the Campfire Queen.
- With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: PB has completely lost it, forcibly turning people into candy versions of themselves and seeing no problem with it.
