Old foes surface from Marceline's past.

Tropes:

  • Blah, Blah, Blah: Marceline uses this as her Shut Up, Hannibal! against the Vampire King.
  • Cliffhanger: Empress is going after Simon.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Peppermint Butler has a huge collection of various stakes (among them a two-pronged stake and a boomerang stake) and a super-garlic bomb, which he claims was just in case Marceline ever snapped and turned on them.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The Vampire King turns Marcy by pinning her to the ground underneath him while he sinks his fangs into her neck as she screams.
  • Dope Slap: The Empress hypnotizes the Fool into giving himself one of these when he suggests the vamps could all rent a loft downtown.
  • Facial Composite Failure: Peppermint Butler tries to make composite sketches of the Vamps, but Jake using descriptions like "a stop sign sticking out of a loaf of bread" and "a wet uncle" don't help. He basically makes a sketch that kinda resembles the Vampire King by sheer accident.
  • Flight Is the Final Power: Inverted, The Fool is the first vampire Marceline stakes, again. Letting Marceline access flight again while all the other Vampires are still around and causing mayhem.
  • Genocide Dilemma:
Vampire King: Marceline, there's no one left but me. Would you wipe out an entire species?
Marceline: For the last time, yes! That is literally my entire plan!
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: The vampires disagree about what to do after coming Back from the Dead, so all but the the King and the Fool leave for different parts.
  • Overly Long Gag: Jake giving Peppermint Butler ridiculous descriptions of the Vamps for facial composites, then saying "No, that's not right" over and over.
  • Raising the Steaks: The Vampire King is shown surrounded by vampire cows, turned when he fed on them.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: The Vampire King tries to talk Marceline down, explaining he's choosing to eat only livestock like everyone else. Marceline rejects his explanation, stating they all have committed enough atrocities to deserve repeated executions.
  • Ship Sinking: Finn at one point has his arm around both Bonnie and Marcy's shoulders, both brush him off.
  • Take a Third Option: As Marceline refused to let the Vampire King live, he decided turning her was the "one other way" for his species to survive.
  • Tarot Motifs: The five vampires are named after Tarot cards: The Fool, The Empress, The Emperor, The Hierophant, and The Moon.
  • Vegetarian Vampire: The Vampire King elects to consume only livestock. Parodied when a cow he's turned spits out a mouthful of grass in confusion.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Bonnie is rather freaked when Peppermint Butler reveals that he has large anti-vampire arsenal. Marcy, who is explicitly the reason Pep made the arsenal, is pretty cool with it.
  • Zero-Effort Boss: The Fool would rather goof around Marceline than attack her, leading to a swift staking at her hands.
