King of Ooo's lusts for treasure drives him to force Finn and Jake to open a suspicious looking door in the castle.

- As You Know: Near the start of the episode, the King of Ooo brings up the events of the season 6 finale "Hot Diggity Doom" and "The Comet".
- Bizarre Alien Reproduction: How Bonnibel and her brother came to this world. They were originally part of a massive wad of gum that Bonnibel refers to as "the Mother Gum", and they eventually broke away from it and became their own seperate beings.
- Constantly Curious: Baby Bonnie was this, in stark contrast to her brother, who expressed terror at everything he saw.
- Continuity Nod:
- Finn autotunes his voice again for a Big "WHAT?!".
- The King of Ooo, upon realising Neddy's potentially exploitable value, begins singing The Money Song, which Finn and Jake lampshade.
- Bonnie and Peppermint Butler are shown rebuilding the cabin they were living in after it was previously turned into muffins during the short "Have You Seen The Muffin Mess?".
- Droit du Seigneur: Finn and Jake are knighted as King of Ooo's new guard and one of their restrictions as such is to render all treasure and wives unto him.
- Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: The King of Ooo continues to be this as he not only hoarded gold but was ready to exploit the Candy Kingom's supply of "candy juice". When Neddie ran away, he just blandly said the kingdom is doomed and suggested they skip town with all the gold they can carry.
- Living Emotional Crutch: Princess Bubblegum is revealed to be this to Neddy. Whenever Neddy gets deprived of secreting candy juice, he goes into a nervous breakdown that only his sister can calm him down with a bubble popping lullaby.
- Opinion Flip Flop: At the start of the episode, Finn hates the fancy ornamental armor he and Jake got from the King of Ooo, while Jake thinks it's "hot like fire". By the end of the episode, Jake has grown to hate the armor because it impairs his stretching powers, while Finn has grown to like it.
- Our Dragons Are Different: Neddy is described as a dragon. He's a giant, chubby mass of gum whose mouth rest above his eyes that suckles on the roots of the giant tree at the center of the Candy Kingdom and secretes said kingdom's water supply from nipples all over his body. He's also terrified of the world due to falling on a sharp rock literally seconds after being born.
- Riddle Me This: The guards of the cave will only let those who answer their riddle pass. Unfortunately, they've forgotten the riddle.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: Bonnie and Neddy when they were little gum babies. Bonnie's curiosity and Neddy's woobieness certainly helps.
- Threshold Guardians: The entrance to Bonnie's cave is guarded by three Banana Guards, who have been there so long they're starting to rot. They're not very efficient, and Finn, Jake and the King bypass them very easily. In the end, Princess Bubblegum gives them swords and instructs them to not let the King of Ooo in.
