Go To

The beautiful and sensitive Lumpy Space Prince flees his cruel parents to start a new life.

Tropes:

  • Author Avatar: Lumpy Space Prince is this to Lumpy Space Princess, as she was the one who wrote the fanfic. He's everything that she isn't and then some.
  • Continuity Nod: Along with referencing the previous Fionna and Cake episodes, this episode has Lumpy Space Princess trying to bring her story to life, as Ice King himself tried to do in "Mystery Dungeon".
  • Demoted to Extra: Fionna and Cake are the side characters while Lumpy Space Prince is the protagonist.
  • Exit, Pursued by a Bear: The episode ends with Lumpy Space Princess getting chased by a possum, after mistaking it for Lumpy Space Prince brought to life.
  • Her Code Name Was "Mary Sue": Lumpy Space Prince's is a kind, charming fellow who always overcomes every obstacle. His perfection puts Ice Queen to shame.
  • I Wish It Were Real: This is why Lumpy Space Princess is making Ice King read her fan fiction. Her wish appears to come true as they hear rustling from a nearby bush. It doesn't.
  • Longing for Fictionland: Lumpy Space Princess wants Lumpy Space Prince to be real, so she has him entering real life in the end of her story and has Ice King read it in the hope that it will come true.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: If in the most self-serving way possible, LSP's entire story is not wanting to be a monster, and in her last two episodes she nearly burned down the Candy Kingdom, and had dubiously consenting G-Rated Sex with Finn.
  • The Nth Doctor: Lumpy Space Prince starts off with Lumpy Space Princess' regular voice, but she complains and Ice King gives him a more dashing voice provided by Peter Serafinowicz.
  • Plothole: In the fanfic, Lumpy Space Prince knows Fionna's name despite never meeting her before. Cake points this out.
  • The Power of Apathy: Lumpy Space Prince defeats his monster parents through the power of apathy, screaming "I DON'T CARE" at them through a microphone, reducing them to a lifeless pile of lumps.
  • Pretty Boy: Lumpy Space Prince, of all people. In some scenes, his face is even drawn heavily stylized like a manga. Not even Fionna can resist his handsome charms.
  • Recursive Fan Fiction: This is LSP's fan fiction of Ice King's fan fiction.
  • Rule 63: The third trip to the Fionna & Cake universe. This one shows even more gender-flipped versions of the inhabitants of Ooo. Flame Prince, Turtle Prince, Ms. Cupcake, Magic Woman, and more all make cameo appearances.
  • The Runaway: Lumpy Space Prince. Totally not like the time that Lumpy Space Princess ran away from home.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The opening with Ice King tied up will remind fans of Stephen King of Misery.
    • Lumpy Space Prince's first outfit makes him look like Char.
    • Fionna's sword bears more than a passing resemblance to Sailor Moon's magic wand in SuperS.
    • Fionna referring to a "judo chop" is a reference to Austin Powers.
  • Stylistic Suck: This Fionna and Cake episode is especially cheesy and bad because it's a fan fiction written by Lumpy Space Princess. She just about does everything wrong when comes to writing fanfics and it shows.
  • You Wake Up in a Room: The episode begins with Ice King waking up to find himself tied up in a forest.
