Enjoy Super Porp!
Susan Strong and her allies infiltrate the mysterious Super Porp factory.
- Action Girl: Susan Strong, natch, and her two Hyooman friends that follow her into the Super Porp factory.
- All Hail the Great God Mickey!: Susan's people and the workers at the factory see Cheryl as a god.
- All There in the Script: Of Susan's friends, only Sally's name is mentioned in the episode. The other one is named Celina in the storyboards.
- Apathy Killed the Cat: Jake is uninterested in finding out why Super Porp is still in production after the Great Mushroom War.
- Big Damn Heroes: When Susan is being drowned by the guard dog, her friends drop in and they all kick its butt.
- Blob Monster: Cheryl and her workers appear to be made from Super Porp.
- Brain in a Jar: What appears to be a giant brain is kept in a tank in the pure Super Porp processing room.
- Brick Joke: At the start of the episode, Jake explains that a new Super Porp shipment comes every month, and when Marcy and Finn question how it could stick around all this time, he shoots down the idea of going on an adventure about it. One month after Susan destroys the Super Porp factory, Jake gets his monthly shipment and is bummed that the Super Porp tastes terrible, lamenting that he jinxed it.
- The Bus Came Back: Susan Strong re-appears for the first time since season three's "Beautopia".
- Collapsing Lair: Nearly: Susan, disguised as Cheryl, orders the Super Porp workers to destroy the factory.
- Colossus Climb: Susan does this during her fight with the giant guard dog to sock it in the face.
- Continuity Nod: Cans of Super Porp were previously seen in the background during episodes from earlier seasons.
- Culture Justifies Anything: As Cheryl lays melting, she asks Susan "who are you to condemn our weird and ancient ways?" when talking about a cult-like reverence of a soft-drink that's maintained in part by mutating innocent children.
- Cute Mute: Sally, one of Susan's friends, does not speak, but pantomimes and uses sign language.
- Dark Reprise: The workers in the Super Porp factory sing a vaguely-ominous version of the company's upbeat jingle.
- Drone Deployer: The Super Porp factory uses flying drones to deliver their drink to vending machines. One of them snatches a Hyooman baby, which kickstarts Susan's adventure into the factory.
- Dungeon Bypass: Rather than taking the stairs, Susan punches through the floor of the Super Porp factory to reach the lower floors.
- Eternal Engine: The Super Porp factory.
- Expressive Mask: Cheryl's mask looks like it's in pain when Susan uppercuts her.
- Fastball Special: Susan is too big to crawl through a vent, so she throws her friend Sally up to it.
- I'm Melting!: When Cheryl is defeated, she melts into a puddle of Super Porp.
- Improbable Infant Survival: A baby Hyooman is snatched by a Super Porp drone, but is rescued before she can get "processed".
- Legacy Character: The reason why Super Porp has lasted for generations is because a new Cheryl is created every generation to continue running the company. The Hyooman baby was kidnapped so she can be mutated into the next Cheryl.
- Madness Mantra: The Super Porp workers can talk normally but if their jobs are in danger they get "stuck":Super Porp Worker (perkily, while fighting Susan): Are you new here? Are you new here? Are you new here? Are you new here?
- Mascot: Cheryl is the mascot of Super Porp. She also runs the Super Porp factory.
- Paper-Thin Disguise:
- Subverted when Susan makes a disguise out of three Super Porp workers that only covers her shoulders and head. The other workers see through this instantly, but don't care. However they do care that she's drenched in Super Porp and attack Susan.
- Played straight when Susan wears Cheryl's mask to command the workers to destroy the factory. She doesn't even disguise her voice.
- Shout-Out:
- "The Porp Must Flow!"
- Jake's dealt with mysterious beverage companies before, which probably explains why he's not too keen on investigating this one.
- A cult-like community who are dependent on their leader and have a thing for grape juice sounds familiar
. - Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers also had a Cola Cult (they had orange and cherry too!) though the leader genuinely wanted to help his followers unburden their earthly cares (his second-in-command was more interested in their donated earthly riches).
- Shown Their Work: Sally uses actual American Sign Language gestures. The storyboard translates what she's saying.
- Skewed Priorities:
- The factory workers care more about the fact that there's someone covered in pure Porp than there being an intruder in their midst. Justified in that pure Porp is implied to be highly addictive. A previous scene had one character admitting that she'd murder all her coworkers for just a single drop.
- One of the workers cares more about the fact that Susan isn't wearing a hairnet than he is that she's beating him for information.
- Another keeps asking if Susan is new there while she's trying to drown her.
- Talk to the Fist: While Cheryl is busy monologuing about her plans for the Hyooman baby, Susan shuts her up with an uppercut to the face.
- Third-Person Person: Susan Strong throughout most of the episode. Near the end though, she uses the word "me".
- Wham Shot: To prevent herself from suffocating, Susan rips off a sticky mass from her face, taking with it her hat, which reveals that she's human. She's also shown to have a cybernetic implant in her head.
