As events in the alternate universe that Finn has created go from bad to worse, Jake has one wish with which to foil the Lich, save his brother, and return the timeline to normal. So no pressure.

Tropes

  • All Up to You: The fate of the world is in the hands of Jake and the wish he makes. Which sucks because Jake wants to stay and hang out with Prismo.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Discussed by Jake and Prismo, as Prismo warns Jake about how wishes can potentially make more dangerous outcomes and about the importance of Exact Words.
  • Benevolent Genie: Prismo goes out of his way to not make Jake waste his wish, explains the dangers of literalism, and even gives Jake broad (and eventually, completely blatant) hints as to the best wish to make to save the day.
  • Bolivian Army Ending: The last we see of the Farmworld, a crazy Ice Finn is charging the now evil Lich Jake. Prismo's TV cuts out just at that moment.
  • Continuity Nod: Jake tries to waste a wish on a sandwich again.
  • Demonic Possession: Farmworld Jake ends up possessed by the Lich.
  • Expendable Alternate Universe: With Finn going utterly insane under the influence of the Ice Crown, and Jake becoming the new vessel for the Lich, the future for the alternate universe doesn't look bright. Though it's ultimately subverted when Farmworld is revisited in "Crossover".
  • Jackass Genie: While Prismo is not a jackass, his wishes are designed to be a monkey's paw situation, but he's capable of gaming the system enough to give Finn and Jake a good ending.
  • Laughing Mad: Alternate Finn, upon wearing the Ice Crown, starts laughing maniacally.
  • Nice Guy: Prismo. He even refuses to let Jake waste his wish.
  • Pals with Jesus: Jake befriends Prismo the Wish Master, who guides him towards making the right wish to save Finn.
  • Platonic Declaration of Love: When Prismo gives Jake a jar of homemade pickles for his sandwich, Jake casually tells him "I love you, Prismo."
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: With a little prompting from Prismo, Jake's wish undoes the damage caused by the Lich.
  • Shout-Out: Prismo explicitly alludes to "The Monkey's Paw'' to describe the dangers of incautious wishes.
  • Stress Vomit: Jake pukes after the warning Prismo gives him.
  • Wasteful Wishing: Instead of wishing to save Finn or something, Jake immediately wishes for a sandwich instead. He's lucky Prismo outright ignored that request or Finn would be in trouble.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Alternate Finn immediately goes insane with the crown's power, so that he starts thinking Big Destiny's goons are his creations.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Finn. His lack of mental fortitude (whether due to simple-mindedness, youth, or pureness) makes him ten times more susceptible to the power of the crown than Simon Petrikov ever was. He has to send his family away before the crown overtakes him and he hurts them any further.
  • You Need to Get Laid: Jake's final line of the episode is muttering that he needs to get Prismo a girlfriend, having not noticed this might be a tad pointless.
