A sick Jake asks Finn to tell him "a real story", and Finn goes on an adventure in order to come up with one.

- Acting Unnatural: Finn, while trying to blend into the forest landscape: "Normal guy, forest guy, just like normal forest guy..."
- Annoying Patient: Jake's illness has made him rather whiny and fussy at the start of the episode; he demands Finn give him his blanket when it's literally right next to him, then quickly throws it off complaining that he's too hot. He then pukes up the soup Finn made for him, and insists that Finn come up with a new bedtime story for him, and that it has to be a "real" story.
- Both Sides Have a Point: When calling out the animals about how they haven't been handling their problems, Finn tells the Jerky Teenage Bear that his mom is right that he shouldn't go around picking fights, but also tells the bear's mom that his son is right to be upset with her for being overprotective and repeatedly "spanking him in the face".
- Brain Bleach: The forest animals' reaction to a face on a cow's udder.
Mr. Fox: Yo, put that bag back on!!
- Cannot Spit It Out: All three of the forest animals in the love triangle.
- Caretaker Reversal: Jake gets sick and Finn takes care of him, obeying all of his requests, including the one to find a true story to tell him. At the end of the episode, Finn gets sick as well, and Jake rushes to do everything for him as well... until he realizes that Finn has just fallen asleep.
- Cardboard Prison: Lampshaded. After the wizard trying to kill Finn realizes Finn has actually helped the forest creatures

- Curb-Stomp Battle: Finn versus the Teenage Bear.
- Defiled Forever: Boobafina reacts this way after being forced to kiss Mr. Fox as she was saving her kiss for her true love Mr. Goose and laments that she's "soiled".

- Disproportionate Retribution: Disrupt the natural order, even if only by a little? Death by vortex!
- Forceful Kiss: Finn forcing Mr. Fox and Boobafina to kiss has negative effects on them both, with Boobafina crying that she's been "soiled" and Mr. Fox crying that Boobafina will never like him back.
