The Crotchety Old Man Calls, also called the Crotchety Prank Calls or even Crotchety Calls for short, were a series of prank calls broadcast throughout the 1990s on the MJ Morning Show starring host MJ Kelli's (a.k.a Todd Schnitt) character "Milton Fludgecow" and involving the hapless old man's misadventures in using various products.

Schnitt left the MJ Morning Show in 2012 to do his own nationally syndicated show. In 2020 the "MJ Morning Show" returned.

Tropes

  • Death Is Cheap: At the end of some calls, Milton dies in very dramatic ways.
  • Disproportionate Restitution: Milton calls the dealership where he bought his car, because he heard used frying oil is a substitute for fuel and put it in his car. He demands a new car.
  • Unsatisfiable Customer: Milton would call a business to report his problem with the product or service and then make outrageous demands for compensation.
