"What am I talking about? What am I talking about? I'm talking about your goldarned security, Hogarth! While you're snoozing in your widdle jammies, back in Washington we're wide awake and worried! Why? Because everyone wants what we have, Hogarth! Everyone! You think this metal man is fun, but who built it? The Russians? The Chinese? Martians? Canadians? I don't care! All I know is we didn't build it, and that's reason enough to assume the worst and blow it to kingdom come! Now, you are going to tell me about this thing, you are going to lead me to it, and we are going to destroy it before it destroys us!"
Kent Mansley, The Iron Giant

Sgt. Jim Bert: Let me tell you what happened kid. You and whoever else you're in this with decided you'd pull one over on the police department. So you bust in here when the doc's not around, smash the place up...
Lieutenant Dave: Hold on, Jim, the kids couldn't have done this. You saw for yourself, the window was locked from the inside, and so was the door.
Bert: They rigged it with a piece of string to lock from the outside to make us look silly.
Jane Martin: I think you're doing a good job of that all by yourself, Sergeant.

James Bonomo: You're probably wondering why I happen to have my safehouse all wired up.
Taylor Kwon: Not really. Like most criminals, you have a paranoid personality.

"You experience things and then they're over, and you still can't explain them. Gods, aliens, other dimensions. I'm just a man in a can. The only reason I haven't cracked up is probably because you moved in. Which is great. I love you. I'm lucky. But honey, I can't sleep. You go to bed, I come down here. I do what I know. I tinker. I... Threat is imminent. And I have to protect the one thing that I can't live without. That's you."
Tony Stark to Pepper Potts, Iron Man 3

Lucius Fox: The reactor is beneath the river so it could be instantly flooded in the event of a security breach.
Miranda Tate: Is Bruce Wayne really that paranoid?
Fox: I'm gonna plead the fifth on that one.

"Lesson number one: trust no one! The minute God crapped out the third caveman, a conspiracy was hatched against one of them!"
Col. Hunter Gathers to Brock Samson, The Venture Bros.

Maurice: Come on, Clover. It's just a group of ordinary lemurs.
Clover: A group is just a mob that hasn't turned yet.
Maurice: That's kind of paranoid, Clover.
Clover: GOOD. PARANOIA IS JUST COMMON SENSE THAT HASN'T TURNED YET.

A man who worries over anything and everything. His fears include but are not limited to: disgruntled neighbors, gangs of roving bandits, hordes of ravenous monsters, various natural disasters, otherworldly beings dwelling deep within the earth, whether or not it will rain on the morrow, the ephemeral nature of existence, that sinister-looking kid surely plotting to kill him...
—Description of the Worrywart, Octopath Traveler

Paranoids: These Orks are under the constant impression that someone or something is out to get them. This can result in excessive animosity towards alien races, and even to other clans or castes. It may take the form of an instantaneous hatred to a particular Ork, Gretchin or Snotling or something equally irrational. Whatever the object of their loathing, whenever they come in contact with it, Paranoids either run away and hide or attack it on sight, oblivious to anything else occurring around them.
Waaargh! The Orks: Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

The Alaemish live a paranoid existence. Always wondering what people know that they don't, always wondering what's real and what isn't... many Conspirators are members of two or three secret societies at once, and know that around any corner may be the ultimate price of betrayal. Your Prince is your only friend, and Alaemon isn't anyone's friend. You never know where you stand. You're never sure if your secret society is just a front — or if the secret society you've infiltrated is really in charge, playing you for a fool. You betray someone every day, wondering if you'll get caught. And all the people you're closest to are just like you. Knowledge is power, but you're never sure you have all the facts. Never.

Seventh squad leader of the Vespers, the Arquebus Group's augmented human squad.
Swinburne is a product of Generation Seven, the first to receive experimental augmentation using Coral substitution technology.
This granted him enhanced aptitude as a pilot without the usual complications—but with no obvious indication of either efficacy or potential side effects, Swinburne's fears and doubts turned into an overpowering paranoia, the final jewel to crown his odious personality.
