Quotes / Stock Footage Failure

"Amazingly, as a second fuel tanker explodes, you can plainly see in the background that there are five other oil tankers. In fact it appears as though Cobra is replaying the footage from their previous destruction of an oil tanker. Since Sparks actually is able to trace the remote detonator this time it can only be assumed that Cobra replayed this explosion because of a problem with their camera equipment near the tankers, but did in fact destroy a second ship."
Something Awful's recap of the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero episode "Cobra Stops the World"

"So in this one, Donnie gets kidnapped. And so the Turtles deploy their Humvee to go to the Rank fortress and rescue him. No big deal; that makes sense. But they do it via stock footage. That means Donatello is seen in the Humvee on the way to go rescue himself. And it’s not subtle or accidental, like they failed to edit the footage properly to clip out any close-ups of the Turtles in the Hummer so you can’t see Donnie. No, he’s right there pumping his fist in the air, totally psyched about the concept of being rescued by his brothers. It’s like watching the Fred Wolf cartoon, with all its bizarre animation errors that routinely put four Michelangelos in the same frame. Except this is a live action TV series. It shouldn’t have animation errors."

Editor: Thanks to modern editing techniques, we can use existing footage to complete the film without Milhouse. Watch.
(the editor plays the footage, beginning with Radioactive Man and Fallout Boy surrounded by minions in a cave.)

(cut to Fallout Boy sitting on a couch in an office)
Fallout Boy: (flatly) Yes.

Editor: (stopping the footage) Seamless, huh?
(beat)
Producer: You're fired.
Editor: And with good cause!

Great gouts of flame erupted from the nozzles and with a deafening roar Proton's ship wobbled its way into the sky, mysteriously changing into stock footage of a German V2 rocket in the process.
