For me, the first sign that something was wrong was when my phone started threatening me. I thought it was just a virus or something. (I wasn’t sure if smartphones could get viruses, but I checked with my friend who works in IT, and she said they could. But that’s beside the point.) Tim, our GM, has a no-phones-at-the-table rule, so it was kind of ironic when he answered his and it blew out his eardrums and killed him with a cerebral hemorrhage (at least, that’s what my friend who’s an EMT says happened), but mostly it was pants-wettingly terrifying. So, that confirmed that something was very wrong.
