Scott and Jean are both Cable's parents - and so is Madelyne, to a point in that she was the one that gave birth to him, but genetically and otherwise Jean is Cable's mother. He spent his entire childhood with her and with Scott. They are his parents. Jean is his mother. A boy's relationship with his mother is something that's lasting and I think that it's something that's too often not touched on with Jean and Cable.
