Ly's eyes widened. Pierre’s bizarre description had been exactly right. The hands in their scuffed white gloves were completely detached from the torso next to them. They floated through the air with nothing holding them up. His feet, too... they were pressed onto the bark, but they weren't bracing against anything. Even his head was completely separate, with no neck or any indication that one had ever been there, just smooth skin running from his jawline to the back of his head. All the parts were arranged roughly where they'd be positioned on a normal body... just with nothing connecting them together. Yet, despite all the missing pieces, he seemed whole, as if this was exactly the way he was meant to look.
