Jaune opened his mouth. Yang clamped a hand over it.
"And don't you dare suddenly use that as an excuse to say how kind or sweet I am," she hissed, face crimson. "It's too early for me to deal with that. I just had a nightmare. I'm not thinking straight. You can't make me feel like this."
"Feel like what?" he asked, pulling her fingers away.
Yang's brow twitched, and she vaguely remembered Summer once warning her about boys who made her heart race without meaning to. Those were the ones you needed to watch out for, or so Summer had said. They were dangerous, and could make you think dangerous things without meaning to. "Nothing," she said. "I feel nothing. You're imagining it."

"Oh, nice shot!" Ren commented casually as Haru weakly hit the cue ball. Unlike most of her previous attempts however, it rolled straight and collided with the target ball.
Ren had lost track of how many rounds they had played at this point. At a certain point it became abundantly clear that Ryuji and he were a cut above a girls. Since then, they'd been letting them practice and get touches in.
The growth was the slow but consistent learning curve that most beginners experienced when faced with a new task.
"Hey, Ren," Makoto called. "Are you sure I'm sighting correctly? It seems like it doesn't move straight."
Going over, Ren did his best to help the older girl out. Truth being told, he'd played pool before, but certainly wasn't an expert by any means. Even before he walked away to let Makoto shoot, Ren felt that same sensation.
Shuffling beside Ryuji, Ren confided in him. "I don't know why, but I keep getting the feeling that people are glaring at me. Is it just my imagination?"
"Dude…" Ryuji sighed, closing his eyes. "Please tell me you aren't that stupid."
"Huh, about what?" Ren asked back. "I'm trying not to come off as a perfectionist harping on errors. They're the one's asking me to help them after all…"
"Urgh…" Ryuji moaned. "It really is just like all of those manga I've read." Tilting his head up to the ceiling, Ryuji muttered to an unresponsive deity. "Why? Why is it always the idiots that don't realize what they have that get blessed?"
