Dungeons and Dragon Wagon is an actual play homebrew D&D podcast that started on May 25th, 2018 as part of the Dragon Wagon Radio Network. It's hosted by Actor/Filmmaker/Comedian Jake Lloyd who also edits the podcast with immersive sound effects and cutting deliberation so it sounds like an Audio Play. Writer Paul Bianchi acts as Dungeon Master. It can be found here.
Season 1 is called the "Rymoor Reason" as it takes place on a frigid spit of Land Called Rymoor. Rymoor is a haven for refugees that are escaping the war in north. Rymoor lacks native magic. Instead, the region relies on a network of Kelbana Stones. The Kelbana Stones provide magic within city centers to those with the knowledge to wield it. Naturally the Kelbana stones are being stolen by evil Gnomes, which sets up the conflict of the season.
The Party Members are as follows:
"Jünk" (played by Jake Lloyd) a half-Orccan fighter, who is fond of alliterations and spreading good times.
"Adeline" (played by Alexandra Hoey) a human ranger who comes from nobility.
"Maatzyn" (played by Matt Hingstman) a Shadow Elf rogue with a troubled past.
"Kelber Ornie" (played by Paul Bianchi) a Gnome Alchemist who is ever present during the campaign.
DNDW provides examples of:
- Arch Nemesis Dad: Adeline's relationship with her father. and Fenferyl's for that matter.
- Back from the Dead: Jünk at the end of 4.2
- Black Bug Room: The Moonwalk in Chapter 7.1 plays off of the players' darkest fears.
- Blood Magic: Wielded by guest character Asteria (played by Gina Devivo)
- Died in Your Arms Tonight: Kelber Selfen dies in Jünk's arms at the end of Chapter 1.2.
- Early-Installment Weirdness: The players and characters find their footing in Chapter 3.
- Our Dwarves Are All the Same: The Dwarves of Rymoor are predominantly Tolkeinesque beer drinking, armor-loving, hammer swingers.
- Our Elves Are Different: The Shadow Elves, perhaps in name alone, attempt to be distinctly different from Dark Elves or Drow.
- Our Gnomes Are Weirder: The Gnomes are introduced as the main antagonists in the Rymoor Reason. Also, Kelber Ornie has a bizarre personality.
- Our Orcs Are Different: The Orccans are also are different, perhaps in name alone. In chapter 8.1, we learn the Orccans were created by Rasa out of swamp mud.
- Pun-Based Title: The entire campaign is called the Rymoor Reason punning off the phrase "No Rhyme or Reason"
- Shout-Out: Jünk's familiar choices in Chapter 5.1 are named Agent 355, Skampersand, and Rabeth -a direct nod to charcters from Y: The Last Man
- That Reminds Me of a Song: Kelber Ornie all the time. Also the bard/Hooker with a Heart of Gold, Fiero
