Basic Trope: A character collects souls by buying, stealing, or eating them.

  • Straight: Jordan is a powerful Kenyan sorcerer who collects human souls.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Jordan converts people's souls into his own Fighting Spirit
    • Jordan collects animal souls, insect souls, microscopic and alien souls.
    • Jordan contributes to a large sorcerer's economy the runs off the purchase, selling, and consumption of souls.
  • Downplayed: Jordan uses up most of his power to collect a villains soul in a surprising Heel–Face Turn.
    • The consumed souls merely become less powerful but still continue onto the afterlife as normal but aren't eligible for any spirit positions which required greater power.
  • Justified: Jordan's magic requires a steady diet of souls.
  • Inverted:
    • Jordan can restore people’s souls if they have already been stolen or consumed.
    • Jordan has the arcane ability to replace someone else's soul with his own.
  • Subverted: It was thought they were souls but scientists study it and find it is just bio-electricity, Jordan even dies in the exact same way as a 'soul' overdose after getting tricked into trying to drain a substation.
  • Double Subverted: The scientests were only partially correct in that bio-electricity is also drained in the process. Attempts to subsitute electrical power for souls in magic or feeding prove lackluster.
  • Parodied: Jordan collects an absurd amount of souls and decides to sell them as pets, food, and decoration to demons. African folklore demons seem to have a high demand for 8 year old dog souls...
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Jordan does not have soul manipulation magic
  • Enforced: The video game spin-off Tropia Chronicles Gaiden: Modern Egypt needed an excuse to show off their new particle engine. So they created Jordan, master of souls, to show it off.
  • Lampshaded: "So many souls. Is he trying to crash the economy with these?”
  • Invoked: The creator wanted to justify the use of overpowered Black Magic with an equally harrowing source of power.
  • Exploited: A Dimension Lord promises Jordan a well of souls for his service.
  • Defied:
    • Marcy casts a protection spell to prevent The Hero and the rest of their party form having their souls sucked out
    • Jordan finds an alternative hobby that can be done with his magical arts. Like a more advanced level of mathematics.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
