Basic Trope: Someone asks a question that answers itself.

  • Straight: Alice asks, "Where's the jacket I always leave on my bed?", only to realize exactly where the jacket is.
  • Exaggerated: Alice asks, "Where's the blue jacket sitting right next to me?" while staring directly at it in complete seriousness.
  • Downplayed:
    • Alice asks, "Where's the jacket I left on my bed?", after looking there, only to realize it's under the blankets.
    • Alice asks, "Wait, did I leave my jacket on my bed?", investigates and finds her jacket on her bed.
  • Justified:
    • Alice isn't very smart.
    • Alice had to say the sentence out loud for her to be able to understand what she was saying.
  • Inverted: ???
  • Subverted: Alice thinks the jacket is there, but in reality, it isn't.
  • Double Subverted: She checks harder and actually finds it on her bed.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Alice just asks, "Where's my jacket?"
  • Enforced: ???
