Basic Trope: A character who is solely dedicated to their job.
- Straight: Alice only gets 3 days break per 3 months, and also has no breaks on working.
- Exaggerated:
- Alice has been working for her entire life, even in the afterlife.
- Alice's hobby is her job, and said job is arduous.
- Alice is an Elder Employee who's worked the same job fifteen hours a day, seven days a week, every single day, for 40 years straight. Including holidays. On pretty much no sleep at all.
- Downplayed: Alice is a very hard worker, but makes time for others.
- Justified:
- Alice's job is to help people, so she don't have time to rest.
- Alice recently lost her partner, and is (at least temporarily) a Struggling Single Mother who has to work two jobs so she can support her kid(s).
- Alice, being self-employed, is barely making ends meet, SHE CAN'T AFFORD BREAKS.
- Alice knows that her skills have made her the one employee that the company can't afford to lose for even one day and she's that loyal.
- Inverted: Lazy Bum
- Subverted: Alice retires from her job.
- Double Subverted: But someone forced her to do her job again.
- Parodied: Alice is literally addicted to work, and shows withdrawal symptoms whenever she's forced to stop for too long.
- Zig Zagged: ???
- Averted: Alice's job has average work time and break.
- Enforced: ???
- Lampshaded: "Alice, don't you have better things to do than work?"
- Invoked: Alice wants to gain her boss's trust.
- Exploited: ???
- Defied:
- Alice makes sure she don't work too much time, so she gets an alarm clock to notify her.
- Alice's boss ensures that nobody works themselves to the bone, most likely out of fear that they might get too ambitious and start gunning for the higher up positions.
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Deconstructed:
- Alice dies from overworking.
- Alice spends so much time working, she never makes time for anything else, which negatively impacts all of her personal relationships.
- Alice is very disadvantaged compared to her peers, so she has to work harder than anyone else just to keep her head (and those of the people that depend on her) above water.
Are we done here? I need to get back to Workaholic!
