Basic Trope: A woman gets done wrong by her significant other and seeks revenge.

  • Straight: Alice asks Bob to the Sadie Hawkins Dance, and Bob turns her down. She slashes his tires.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice murders Bob over this.
    • Alice kills all the boys at school (or all the other girls) because Bob turned her down.
  • Downplayed: Alice gets treated like dirt by Bob. She publicly humiliates him as revenge.
  • Justified:
    • Alice is a Yandere.
    • Bob's rejection of Alice was particularly mean-spirited.
    • Bob was already in a relationship with Alice, and she found out he'd been fooling around with someone else behind her back.
  • Inverted: Alice asks Bob to the Sadie Hawkins Dance, and Bob turns her down. She fixed his tires when she noticed they were punctured.
  • Gender Inverted: Bob asks Alice to a dance, and Alice turns him down. He slashes her tires.
  • Subverted: When Bob turns her down, Alice makes a Nightmare Face and looks about to explode, but then takes a few deep breaths and calms down.
  • Double Subverted: But she spends the rest of the day plotting her Revenge.
  • Parodied: Alice asks Bob to the Sadie Hawkins Dance, and Bob turns her down. She painted his tires in a lighter shade of grey.
  • Zig Zagged: Alice slashes tyres, but they're his demon of a mother's car's, doing so as a little bit of closure, but plots to spike the drinks in the dance, only to scrap the idea since she's not that mean-spirited, but then she...
  • Averted: Alice accepts Bob's refusal at face value.
  • Enforced:
  • Lampshaded: "You will regret this, Bob. Nobody rejects Alice Troper and lives to tell about it! NOBODY!"
  • Invoked: Bob tries to make Alice jealous by canoodling in the hallway with Claire.
  • Exploited: Alice asks Bob to the Sadie Hawkins Dance and he accepts. However, Colin, Bob's enemy, told Alice that Bob changed his mind behind her back. Colin grins as Alice slashes Bob's tires.
  • Defied: Alice finds another guy to ask to the dance.
  • Discussed: "I wouldn't want to date a girl like that..."
  • Conversed: "Alice is such a psycho!"
  • Played For Laughs: Alice immediately vaporizes Bob with a BFG for his rejection. Then keeps going as if nothing happened.
  • Played For Drama: Alice's sabotage of Bob's car ends up getting him killed. Bad enough, but she didn't intend for it to have that effect...
  • Deconstructed: Alice goes to jail for her vengeful actions.
  • Reconstructed: But she is satisfied that her justice was served and so were her friends. Despite the circumstances, peace of mind is always a good thing to have.
