- Straight: Emperor Evulz hits Hiro with a laser, which somehow doesn't kill him. Emperor Evulz becomes frustrated.
- Exaggerated: Hiro was hit with a laser, stabbed, shot, burned, Impaled with Extreme Prejudice, suffered a major infection, shocked with electricity, was fed to wild animals, and finally the excrement of the wild animals that ate him got poked with a stick. He somehow survived, causing Emperor Evulz to do a major Skyward Scream.
- Downplayed:
- Emperor Evulz is simply trying to defeat Hiro rather than kill him, and has no idea why Hiro won't go down.
- Evulz punches Hiro in the face several times and can't believe that Hiro is still standing and fully conscious.
- Justified: Hiro is invincible in some way, and Emperor Evulz doesn't know.
- Inverted:
- Hiro is trying to bring his love interest back from the dead, and doesn't know why she won't come back to life.
- To Evulz's surprise, Hiro dies in a single shot; Evulz remarks out loud that he thought it would be a lot harder than that.
- Subverted: Emperor Evulz finally gets to kill Hiro...
- Double Subverted: ...which was just a Disney Death. Cue to Evulz's Villainous Breakdown
